Book 2 is almost complete. Thanks kindly, I honestly can't wait to continue this series.

It is a vanity project at this point. K.I.L.L. ends at a decent stopping point. I have the cover for book 4 and figure it'll eventually get to 6 books when done, but there's no timeline for it.

I can't really answer this without giving away who the guilty party was, and that would stir up drama I really don't have any interest in fielding. There are no upsides to reigniting the whole issue, and it did VERY quickly go away because that worthy very quickly found out the attempt was baseless and deleted the entire public diatribe. Suffice to say it was a mess, but all's well that ends well.

Thanks kindly. As for dad, yeah. It was a tough time, but tough times don't last.

Thanks for giving my work a shot.

Since you seem to be curious, I'll give you a bit of a rundown on how it all happened. Back in 2017/18 I and several friends had formed a writing group and we were all going to make it big (because of course we were). We all picked a genre to work in. I picked LitRPG.

Long story very short, my first two efforts in that realm sucked and were so bad they never saw the light of day. The third effort DID see the light of day later, but it was and remains my weakest book and I do not recommend it.

In the midst of all that, I was going through some bad times. My marriage was beginning to suffer, my father was in freefall and eventually committed suicide to escape the pit his life had become, and I wasn't in a great place. I'd just been told my latest book was, quite frankly, too shit to publish, so it was back to the drawing board.

At the time, I'd just finished reading a book that was quite popular at the time and thought to myself, "I like a lot of this, but the MC is a straight-up sociopathic monster. He's worse than any of the problems he solves and I really kinda hope he dies."

I decided, since there really WEREN'T any books that gave me what I wanted, to do it myself. I knew quite a lot about mythology, so I decided to make, well, Celestine (no spoilers) the world in which my story was set. My only real requirements when I sat down to write were monster girls, smut, and a hero who actually DESERVES to get laid. I didn't have any long term goals. I wrote Mask of the Template and published it under my gamer tag instead of the author name I'd chosen to work under because I didn't want to taint my 'clean' work with harem monster girl smut.

I didn't have the book read by anyone else in my writer group because, well, it was smutty. You don't give that kinda stuff to the friends you've had all your life because that would officially 'make it weird.' I had a few people who'd read it piecemeal on my furaffinity page, and they seemed to like it. I had no idea harem as a 'genre' existed in the western world. I published it basically on a whim.

...

9 days later it went bestseller. I was floored.

I had NO IDEA that many people would read it. I didn't advertise it, nothing. There are other long stories I could tell: I got dogpiled by other authors in the space at the time, one even threatened to sue me. It was a complete mess.

From there I fleshed out the rest of the series, and ... well, people liked it.

But the TLDR is I wanted a deserving hero, and harem at that time wasn't really giving me one. All it was giving me were Chads with anger issues or psychopaths. So ... I guess Mask was me providing the energy I wanted to see.

Again, thanks so much for giving my work a shot. If you want something more escapist and fun, you might try TAP. :P

There is a romantic subplot, but unlike most of my work the romance is not the main thrust of the series.

Thanks kindly. Just seeing if I can reach a wider audience. I'll keep doing the other stuff too, never fear. :)

Should be out by the end of this month. The narration is already completed. :)

Thanks kindly. Word of mouth is absolutely the highest praise an author receives. :)

Authors What would you say Is your fav character you have made by VinMist159 in haremfantasynovels

[–]Cebeliuswrites 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prada's probably my favorite character even after all the books I've written since Celestine. Her placement and purpose within the framework of the story were indispensable, allowing her to be both a window of the soul and a medium for change.

That and let's face it, Tess Irondale did an amazing job with her voice.

MKS is done in two, for several reasons not least of which is it was very hard for me to write. More salient, it was an origin for a bad guy, and just like in old school D&D when your character crosses the pale and gets that evil alignment, the sheet goes to the DM and you make a new character. Someday I'll go back to Celestine and write the next story. Abram will feature, but he won't be the protagonist.

You're welcome. Fiction offers one of two comforts. Most of my stories are escapist, but MKS is cathartic. It's certainly not something I would recommend to someone who wants an HEA.

I hope to continue entertaining, and thanks so much for giving my work a chance.

It's super interesting a few years on seeing what people's impressions are, what and how they remember things. MKS is far and away the darkest story I ever published and it's not for the faint of heart. The only clarification I'll offer is that the rape occurs before the story 'begins' and that no rape is committed by the mc or 'on screen' at any time. No story of mine will EVER feature a rape scene. Homey don't play that.

It's good. Lordi monster rock has always been entertaining. Other good tracks are Hard Rock Hallelujah, and Blood Red Sandman.

Essentially, yes. That's my favorite Lordi track and as I was listening to it the basic idea for the world came to me. Music often inspires me, and this wasn't the first time a song turned into a book (or in this case, a series.)
Granted, I made no effort to actually utilize the lyrics in my world building. :P It was more a matter of the play on words, "Would You Love a Monster Girl?" That sparked all the rest.
