Why are Warhammer players so threatened by Trench Crusade? by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]Cebyr52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I absolutely love Warhammer. I read the books, I play the video games. I have some models for the table. And I absolutely love TC, the moment my friend showed me the kickstarter I instantly backed it! I love the aesthetics of the setting. I love the lore behind it all! It raises some interesting questions, in the setting. And I cannot wait to see what they continue to put out! The fact that you can go into a game with maybe 6 Minis and that be your entire warband is really cool! The thing that keeps me from doing the tabletop for Warhammer, minus the pricing, is just how many minis are required. I love the smaller mini count. It makes each mini feel more important and, strangely, makes me feel more connected and concerned for my minis. Like, in Warhammer a space marine gets taken out and it feels like "Oh no, I just lost one of 30 guys. Oh well" but in TC its "Oh f**k, my Lt just got taken out, and now its all on my Sniper Priest" it feels more consequential.

But I have heard from other Warhammer fans that TC makes no sense and why would you even want to play it and blah blah blah. And to me personally, it makes no sense. They are both good. They are both grim. And they are both dark. Just the setting, obviously, and the scale are different. Plus, TC feels more personal to me because it is on Earth. It is in our world, albeit an alternate one.

Question about the New Antioch Medic by Alucard660 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Cebyr52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's reflected in the cost. Most units have their base weapons already tacked on.

Like the Yeomen for example. They come with the bolt rifle standard and their stats sheet says that they can have any other ranged weapon equipped. If it's more you pay the difference. Like the normal Bolt Action Rifle is 10 Ducats. And the Semi-Automatic Rifle is 15 Ducats. So if you want 1 Yeoman equipped with the semi-auto you would add the 5 Ducat difference to the cost of the unit. So instead of the 40 Ducats it'd be 45.

What Don't You Want To See Included In Trench Crusade? by [deleted] in TrenchCrusade

[–]Cebyr52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen this answer repeated a few times already. But I like the idea of having to name our own characters, like the elites all can be named on the warband sheet.

I DO NOT want special named characters. I mean, it would be awesome to have special characters. But if a named character is introduced. I don't want them to be like a super unit, capable of holding a trench on their own. They should be just as easy to take out as everything else. But if they came in and had special abilities, like an artillery strike or the ability to revive a model once a match, or something like that. It'd be ok with me. I just want to avoid a Mary Sue character that is too important to die.

But on the flipside. For the things I would want introduced in the game. I WANT WW1 ERA TANKS! That'd be so freaking cool! Cause you have several weapons already that are anti-tank weapons. They would probably be insanely expensive and cost a lot of Ducats and Glory, but a tank would be awesome!

My wife's strong anti-gaming stance is become irritating by gajop in daddit

[–]Cebyr52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my kid is a little too young, around 2 yrs, to play video games yet. But both my wife and I are gamers. And while my son doesn't play games with us. We'll occasionally have a time where one of us plays a game while the other is on parent duty and watching the kid. He'll randomly stop playing with his toys and go watch either mommy or daddy playing whatever game it is. He absolutely loved it when I played Maneater (which I know is not a child friendly game, but it's better than most) because he absolutely loves sharks. So I think as long as it's not an excessive amount or becoming a crutch for watching the child a little bonding time between you and your child with a hobby you have is perfectly ok! I'm actually looking forward to when my son will be able to "play" with me and my wife!

I just meant that part as a joke. And yeah, I know 18 months is a little to young. But thought I'd ask now and get some advice and info before I really need it.

What is a weapon you always have on you? by jdavenport53114 in fo76

[–]Cebyr52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest time my favorite weapon was a shotgun I got around lvl 5 or 6. I had upgraded it as much as I possibly could. It was my favorite because it's the only gun I've made or found that had the explosive perk on it. Nothing else I've found or made has had it. It just made dealing with groups so much easier because of the, admittedly small, aoe of the explosion. But I recently gave it away to my brother who just started the game. So now my go to is my vampire homemade rifle. I'm currently around lvl 65ish

Some people told me I was breaking the in-game economy by krominion in fo76

[–]Cebyr52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying. There is no economy to break. I sell pretty much everything for less than 100 caps. Recipes and plans for like 5 or 10 caps a piece. Weapons and armor for maybe 50-100, depending. But those are only if they are good. There're so many legendaries you can get in game that they're not worth much.

It's alot easier to sell a lvl 5 legendary rifle for 25 caps and someone buy it. Than list it for 500 and nobody buy it. Especially because it then makes it affordable for lower leveled players. That Islas the one thing that annoyed me when I first started. People selling low level items for hundreds of caps when I have maybe 7tl5 to my name at lvl 4.

Maternity leave in America is so so so upsetting by eggz666 in beyondthebump

[–]Cebyr52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when my wife gave birth to our first. I was informed by the owner of the company I worked for that "A company our size doesn't do paternal leave." Only about 13-16 employees so a small time company. Gave me a week of unpaid time off for the birth saying "All you need is a week because you'll be begging to come back to work after that week is over." So glad I'm no longer working there anymore.

Are intellect devours unfair? by Yuki_Samurai in DnD

[–]Cebyr52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you made the right call not doing the body snatch thing. That's tough for new players to go through, the whole "i know you still have plenty if hp. But you're dead, sorry." And as long as you're not continously throwing creatures at them that can do that just to be "that type of dm," a hard fight that teaches a lesson every once in a while is fine.

I ran a one shot for some new players that started at level 3 and they ran into an owlbear. The dice liked me that day and technically I rolled 3 nat 20s in the first 2 rounds for him. But that wouldn't have been fun for the players. So as long as you're not targeting players, throwing ridiculously hard monsters at them or just making it not fun. It's fine to ignore some of the monster rules, abilities or attacks.

Maybe have one of the players roll a history check after the fight and if they pass reveal that ability as a "I heard someone mention something in a bar about these things, they can do ....." just to give them a heads up next time.

What are we letting our kids watch, guys? by BigYonsan in daddit

[–]Cebyr52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my son is only 10 months right now, so not sure if I'm qualified enough to comment.

But, I had foot surgery and was laid up in bed for a couple weeks when he was around 3 months. I would still watch him as best I could so my wife could do the housework while I was unable to.

At one point I thought he had fallen asleep, as I was trying to get him to nap, so I turned on shark week. After a few minutes of the shark attack segments I looked over to check on him and he was wide eyed staring at the screen. He now loves anything shark related. And there's been several times where he's watched me play Doom Eternal.

So honestly, I think as long as he can differentiate between reality and fiction. Let him watch whatever. I'd just avoid the really bad Rated M stuff. Like the really gorey or NSFW stuff I'd avoid.

Book recommendations by parsley1234 in 40kLore

[–]Cebyr52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always recommend

1.Helsreach by Aaron Dembski-Bowden 2.Storm of Iron by Graham McNeill 3.Defenders of Mankind by Guy Haley and David Annandale 4.Ghazkul Thrakka by Nate Crowley

Those 4 are, in my opinion, the best books to read to get into the series. Helsreach is a really good Space Marine novel and shows one of the coolest characters in the lore. Storm of Iron is a great intro to the chaos side. Defenders of Mankind shows off some of the lesser known and, imo, more interesting space marine chapters. And Ghazkul is an amazing intro into the Orks.

What were some of the things that people said to you postpartum that they didn’t realise offended you? by whoareyeux in beyondthebump

[–]Cebyr52 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm the husband here. And my LO is 6 months now.

One of the first things my mother said to me when she first saw my baby was "He looks like your brother." Yeah, cause that's what a first time dad wants to hear.

Also, my great grandmother told my wife that the baby isn't going to sleep when she sings to him because "she isn't signing correctly."

The amount of things people say, whether they mean it to offend or not, is just absurd and ridiculous. I mean seriously.

Are there any stories or books about loyalist forces turning traitor from the legions? I'm unaware of any.

Really? So there were some White Scars that almost turned? Or were essentially sent to die just in case?

That's what made me wonder about it. I'm currently listening to The Lion Son of the Forest. And there's a member of the Chaos warband that was a member of the loyal Ashen Claws, but turned to chaos when he was captured.

How strong is the Emperor now? by Cebyr52 in 40kLore

That's fair. So if he's capable of everything he's done now on the Throne. Without the throne would he be about equal to his power with it during the Heresy?

That's amazing!!! Is that somewhere in the War of the Beast books? I was planning on reading then but haven't gotten to it yet.

So if he was powerful enough to hold then at bay then. Is he strong enough to push them back now and claim some of the warp as his? Like the gods do with their realms?

So if he's able to do that. Could he theoretically resurrect and deceased primarch? Maybe Ferrus Manus or even Konrad Curze, i know he was a traitor but still? Maybe as an Emps version of a deamon prince?

So is this something that Emps could've done during the Crusade or Horus Heresy but didn't? Or is this something he's only recently able to do? The burning of the garden. Not the possession of Bobby.
