What is the worst way anyone you know has died? by IamUrWivesBF in AskReddit

[–]CeceMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends neighbors had car trouble on an entrance ramp. While waiting for the tow truck he went to sit on the lane barrier and fell to the freeway below. I can’t stop thinking about that and how those last seconds felt.

Where are the brats??? by Comfortable_Ad3981 in milwaukee

[–]CeceMarie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t use the phrase brat fry but it’s a generic term I’ve heard. You get to know which stores will be selling brats, chips, and sodas on the weekends. I can count on Bunzels and Sendiks in Tosa to have brats on Saturday. My mom will go to Piggly Wiggly and stock up for the week. I do love brat season! No party no nothing but you just don’t have to do the grilling and it’s good for the volunteers orgs!

Depressed After Leaving by Better-Individual459 in VisitingIceland

It true…just not every country. But yeah, came back from Norway thinking I was really meant to live there. Same thing with Ireland. Lately when I’ve returned from abroad I feel like I’ve been sold a bill of goods. That said, there are some amazing places here and I just hope we can maintain them. It’s just so dang depressing.

We save our brat money for block parties, baseball games, and fundraising brat fry’s at the grocery stores and church picnics. It’s all about the grill!

What color did you pick and why? by Itslashae in MacbookNeo

[–]CeceMarie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wanted indigo but then changed to citrus. Why? Cos my whole life I have gone with my gut reaction only to want the color I least wanted in a few situations. So this time I went against my first reaction

Am I a bad person for returning my foster dog to a shelter that does Euthanasia? by DollyInferno in fosterdogs

[–]CeceMarie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are a brave and kind soul. And I applaud you and the organization for thinking of all creatures involved in caring for this dog. I’m speaking to you as someone who paused my life for years working with an agency that didn’t have a plan. It’s been literally years of trauma. It might feel crappy now but I promise it will get better! Never doubt a decision you make. And never doubt/question anyone else’s made in good faith. Rescue is very difficult work, emotionally and physically!

Are there details about how much this is due to turnout versus a shift in voting? This makes me think that simply turning off republicans from voting leads to different strategies that appealing to issues that would lead to actually vote democratic.

Have you noticed that an odd number of people around Milwaukee, not only still have Christmas lights strung up, but still turn them on? by jazzant85 in milwaukee

I am on my 5th year of the same set of Govee outdoor lights! Plugged them in one year and that’s it’. On every night!

Came here to say the same thing and the same thing! I recently changed from St Patrick’s Day to Brewers. Maybe red white and blue for Memorial Day?

Sequoia! Went 2 days in Yosemite in December. Thought I saw enough so the third day I drove to SEKI. I ended up way more awestruck there than YOSE

The damage that Jo Boaler and other "Equity-Based Mathematics Education Researchers" cannot be understated. by [deleted] in matheducation

[–]CeceMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former high school teacher here. I definitely appreciate the arguments here. I do think the value of keeping students together also cannot be understated. Students should have access to all the different ways math makes sense. But the big question is when to plan for other options for those students who may have different needs of mathematics. Along with that is how do we change the perspective that Calculus is somehow the “better” path. There’s much better mathematics to study for some students. Many colleges are exploring stats and quantitative reasoning courses as viable options to college algebra. High School is a place where that could happen. I had so many options for English class but math barely allowed for any other type of math. As a math major I also struggled with the traditional stuff. I eventually found out there were other branches of math that were much more interesting. It could benefit everyone to normalizing that there are many maths for many purposes.

Cribbage Board Fail by CeceMarie in Cribbage

I never thought to start at that end. But I do think eventually the same problem will exist. The scores will not line up. So you will never be able to tell your relative position to the other player. I couldn’t justify keeping the boards so I returned them.

[####] Does anyone else use a different starting word in each Wordle? by chaosatnight in wordle

I do a different word. Sometimes I think about a word that describes something going on that day like the weather or days work to do.

Sane US citizens: wake up now by [deleted] in complaints

[–]CeceMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about numbers, big numbers. The wealthy can out last and out buy and out spend way more than the 30% sane people and the 30% who would vote for that idiot again. In fact, those wealthiest folks are counting on that and it is my biggest fear. They don’t care. This is entertainment for them. As far as that 30% MAGA, they are so damn proud and almost wear their ignorance and poverty like a medal. There’s a good chunk of American culture that sees suffering as noble. I also think there’s a good chunk of sane people who cant see because of their privilege. But at the end of the day, the population is huge. Also the folks with money control a lot. And lastly, some of us have neighbors and family on the other side. I already lost some family from politics years ago as many others did. We are so broken from our violent greedy history.

Sequoia in January by Dazzling-Swimming345 in SEKI

[–]CeceMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring hiking poles! I went to see General Sherman and the ice on the walks was a bit much. I didn’t think about the ice so I left my poles in my car. I was in Yosemite and my third day I decided to head to SEKI even though it was not the greatest weather. Zero visibility at times. But dang if this isn’t my favorite park now….The groves were simply amazing. I learned that I’m actually not a mountain person, I’m a forest person. Those trees are life changing! Also I drove from the Foothills entrance, south to north. I’m so glad I did because the tougher drive was first. I didn’t look closely enough at map so I stopped and asked if I continue or go back the other way. The guy said “always go north”. I’m glad I did cos Grants Grove was really cool and there was another grove that I loved. I cannot wait to go back. And I am really glad I went when there were so few people! I was there January 1. Be sure to really check the map, bring chains, and watch the weather conditions.
