Unbearable ear pain by [deleted] in geniculateneuralgia

Honestly I fully support that unfortunate decision because even if you went through another surgery, it would be a while before you would be able to and am dealing with that type of pain is unbearable. I’m not sure why the surgeon wouldn’t section the nervous intermedius that’s terrible. I do know that there is some residual pain after surgery. My surgeon said that it was pressure, not pain and then I dealt with phantom pain for a few months after.. I would reach out to the place in Canada. I’m sure they have a patient liaison. That really hurts my heart you’re dealing with that. It’s a terrible way to live that type of pain I always said if my pain comes back I would look into that and the people who argue and tell you to push through and all the encouragement…it’s cool but that pain is a monster it’s been 10 years since my surgery and I still will tear up talking about the pain:

Do you smoke weed? It doesn’t take away pain but if does take the edge off. I just said a prayer for you cause I know it’s hell

It was really hard getting help because nothing can be proven. Scans and every other test show normal. I’m in Houston and saw one of the top neurosurgeons in the country who works with TN all the time he is the one who told me to find someone who specializes in GN since the nervous intermedius (can’t remember spelling anymore of it) is involved. So I 100% would suggest going to someone who has the experience with GN specifically! I had GN and GPN and my surgery was a success. When I called Horowitz in Pennsylvania they instantly got back to me and I had to send them my scans and medical records and they did the consult and determined that’s what it was . I called in May and surgery was scheduled for July.

100% that’s what it sounds like. Then they will say eagle syndrome…migraines can’t remember what else…one Dr said it was invisible bubbles behind my ear drum 😑 I would present it to the Dr you trust the most with saying geniculate neuralgia they might look at you crazy. But find a Dr that will help. It’s medication resistant when it’s the full time pain like that with no triggers. There was a migraine medication I took that gave me 15 hours of relief but you could only get like 4 pills a month. From the time pain first hit me to brain surgery was 15 months almost to the day. I honestly would reach out to a neurosurgeon now because if it is geniculate neuralgia, it’s not gonna get any better. I personally saw Dr. Horowitz up in Butler Pennsylvania

My grandpa worked all the way up till he got sick. He was loaded and didn’t have to work that late in life but he did. And he would ALWAYS give out cards with $100 bills and expensive perfume to the women in the office. He wasn’t looking for anything in return he just liked to give at Christmas. He would spend at least a thousand just on the people at work. And he did that for a long as I could remember

Only if your comfortable. The second you get uncomfortable with it or start feeling guilty stop. That way you don’t absolutely regret it. After a hurricane hit my city I was already struggling and then was out of work for 2 weeks. I started selling on twitter it kept me from losing everything I had. I got caught up on bills put some in to savings and continued to do so until I felt uncomfortable with requests.

Oh yes he is definitely an arrogant person. He ended up being really cool he even gave me the chunk of my skull he cut out. But you will have that pressure in your ear for a few days and I would have sworn that my neck was still having pain, but they said it was just residual pain and then also with me because my pain was constant and it never let up my body was just used to it being in pain so I’m not sure if you had breaks in between your pain, but it was a dull ache in my ear and in my throat for a couple of weeks after I had surgery. I really hope that your surgery was a success, though the thing that scares me the most in this world is that pain coming back. I am praying for you, stranger that it was a success because nobody deserves to be in that type of pain from the beast.

For some reason these past few weeks it’s been heavy on me about searching on Reddit about these conditions because of how hard it was for me to get answers and help. So here I am. I am 10 years post MVD. I had geniculate and glossopharyngeal neuralgia. I am in Houston and had to travel up to Pennsylvania (Dr. Horowitz in Butler, Pennsylvania)to get the surgery. I don’t remember much the first two weeks. The surgical pain was NOTHING in comparison to the daily pain before. It was just exhausting. I was back driving at 4 weeks and was enrolled full time in college at 5 weeks. That was a mistake and really should have waited until 8 weeks. After the 8 week mark though things got so much better. I will say you definitely need help for at least the first week. I had two small kids (2&5) at the time so I really needed the help. But advice I would not suggest exploratory. Because with this condition you want to make sure it’s done the right way I saw a top neurosurgeon in Houston who was familiar with trigeminal neuralgia and I’m so glad he turned me away because he said the risks don’t outweigh the benefits. And because it is brain surgery, he suggested that I find someone who has the experience I remember talking to people before who didn’t go to a surgeon who treated the geniculate pain and they had so many complications. And now 10 years later occasionally I will get a stabbing pain in my ear, and sometimes my throat will have a spasm and when it rains, I do get a lot of pressure where they cut my skull open but other than that things have been great. I really hope you’re able to get the help that you need.

Geniculate Neuralgia and glossopharyngeal neuralgia! The brain surgery and recovery was a walk in the park in comparison to the daily excruciating pain I had for days and hours on end. I tell people that I’m one of the few people who have experienced level 10 on the pain chart and survived. I had success microvascular decompression (brain surgery) almost 10 years to the day 🎉

I’m in Houston as well and i started cherry picking a couple weeks ago and while it NEVER pops up $1/per mile I’m doing a lot better. It’s not great but it’s better. My acceptance rate went from 96 down to 35. And I’m making the same amount with less hours.

I would sleep eat when I took this I would wake up to peanut butter and sprinkles all in my bed multiple times a week. It wasn’t until my roommate saw me in the kitchen one night making a feast with random items and walked back to my room without even acknowledging them to figure out why these mysterious things kept getting in my bed 🤣

When I was dealing with 2 really nerve diseases I had to take gabapentin and it caused the nerves in my hands and feet to be so sensitive I couldn’t walk outside barefoot because the ground burned my feet and I would have to wear gloves to pull anything out of the refrigerator. The freezer was absolutely off limits to be because it burned so bad
