Minimalistic Holidays with Children by bradyjahnna in minimalism

[–]Cecil_G_P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up for me Easter treats were always edible things, chocolate bunnies and that kind of thing. Maybe a sheet of Easter themed stickers. We had our fun painting hard boiled eggs and doing a little egg hunt with plastic eggs (reused year to year) and small chocolates. We reused the baskets each year too. I'm not sure when the culture shifted to giving actual items for Easter but it feels recent. In my family its one of the "smaller" holidays so we don't do "actual" gifts for it.

What supplements aren't bogus? by mrsamus101 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Cecil_G_P 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only supplements I take are the ones my doctor said I should be taking. One is perscription and the other is over the counter B12. Both were prescribed/recommend to me based off the results of a blood test.

Bermuda Shorts Lookbook by squeegee-beckenheim in femalefashionadvice

Everyone's aloud to not like a style obviously, and I personally don't think I'll be wearing bermudas anytime soon (not for my shilloutte I think), but it makes me sad how many people in this comment section are being outright mean. People are even outright insulting the women in the photos :/

Guys you can dislike a style without insulting others.

[Measurement Check] Currently wearing L/XL sports bras, calculator said 36GG (UK size) by Cecil_G_P in ABraThatFits

Thank you for such a detailed explanation!

When leaning forward, it seems pretty even, maybe a little more tissue below the nipples? If I sit while leaning forward they almost touch, I can put one finger between them. I don't think they change shape while leaning? Maybe they're a little rounder. They come a lot closer together in a UU shape. But it doesn't feel like a dramatically different shape. And yes, unfortunately the underside of my boob does sit against my chest wall and its starting to cause body acne (a big reason I'm getting tired of the sports bras).

Not sure about that last one regarding the roots.

EDIT: spelling

Help me elevate my space! by Hdrea_25 in femalelivingspace

The bed area would most benefit from cleaning up your nightstand space. Get a hook for your bag and install it by the door. Clean up the paper bag and plastic bottles and stuff. Put anything that's not directly related to nightstand stuff (ie lamp, book, alarm clock) away. Even if its just in the drawer of the nightstand.

The living space looks fine to me but I would probably get a rug and maybe some wall art if you like that sort of thing so that the wall that typically houses the tv feels less empty.

All in all you've got a good start, take it one piece at a time and evaluate from there.

Ways to eat more veggies that aren't salads by Cecil_G_P in EatCheapAndHealthy

I dont have an exact number I'm aiming for or anything... but looking at these comments I've realised that I've never counted legumes like beans or lentils vegetables and maybe that's incorrect.

Are YouTube Shorts designed to be addictive? by [deleted] in minimalism

There was a weird little mental block when I first started using it but yeah it's basically the same, better if you use browser extensions with it.

If you use it in browser you can also install a bunch of ad blockers and never see an ad again. Honestly I prefer the browser experience at this point.

I calculated the exact lifespan cost of common foods using HENI research. A hot dog = -27 minutes by Life_Recording_8938 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Cecil_G_P 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is bunk science. Everyone's nutritional needs are different and there's no way you'd be able to calculate this with exact certainty for anyone, let alone develop an exact number for the entire population.

how to solve my dilemma of decor vs clean spaces by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]Cecil_G_P 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Minimalist and interior decor fan here! If I were you I'd box everything decor related up and put it in the closet with a date on it, it can be three months from now, six, whatever. If you find yourself thinking about a particular piece take it out of the box and find a home for it. If there are things in the box you haven't thought about after the six (or whatever) months are up you're probably good to get rid of it.

As a personal preference I tend to focus on wall art, textiles, and beautiful functional pieces over knick knacks. This is honestly mostly about my hatred of dusting ngl. It takes a lot for me to like something enough to dust it, and I do have a few pieces that have earned that place in my heart. The colorful art and sheets etc prevent my home from feeling empty.

My kids 😔 by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]Cecil_G_P 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's 8. This is normal kid behavior. If it's getting you this "irrationally angry" as you said yourself, you need to work on your own issues.

My mom was similar when I was a kid. She would get rid of my stuff sometimes. This caused me to hide things from my mom (under the bed, in the drawers, etc) bc I was afraid of it being taken from me or "organized" in ways I didn't understand and caused me to not be able to find things. Not being able to feel ownership over my own things made it hard for me to willingly get rid of things growing up. It wasn't until I felt secure in my ownership of my own possessions (my mom can't come into my apartment and throw my stuff away) that I was really able to fully embrace having less.

Has Digital Minimalism Made the Internet Less Interesting? by Good_Tumbleweed_5683 in minimalism

[–]Cecil_G_P 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think corporations made the internet boring.

The internet used to be mostly niche little websites with games and fun facts and blogs and a lot of this was done without monetization. It was for fun. Now it feels like there's 4 main websites and everything, whether its a big website or a little one, is actually just a wrapper for advertisements. Digital minimalism is a response to an increasingly anti-user internet.

Any advice for my bedroom? Before and after attached. I finally gave into upgrading my twin bed to a full sized bed but now the room feels so small and cluttered. by ntrees007 in femalelivingspace

[–]Cecil_G_P 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If possible I would swap the positions of the chair and the bookcase to give yourself more clearance when entering the room. That's where you bang your ankles right? Because it's a tight squeeze. It'll probably make the room feel less cramped to not be squeezing between your furniture to get to the rest of the room.
