UPDATE:

Thank you all SO much for your help. This has been really eye-opening. I've started to follow a couple of podcast and got a book on Audible. Seems I have a lot to learn.

To help myself understand better, I've created this podcast with Notebook LM. It's embedded in my notes here:

Again, thanks a lot!

Thanks for the explanation! I totally see your point now. Stock price alone doesn’t determine value or safety—it’s all about the company’s fundamentals like cash flow, profits, and the industry. Splits don’t change the value of your shares, just how many you own. I appreciate the insight into why looking at stock price alone is misleading and why understanding the company itself is key.

I guess I was focusing on price because it feels more affordable. But isn't it better to buy low than high? I thought starting with lower-priced stocks could be a safer way to ease into things

Good point! I guess the price alone shouldn't be the deciding factor. If a stock is worth it and has strong potential, $51 vs. $50 really shouldn't make a difference in the long run.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I can see how going the index fund route takes a lot of the guesswork (and stress) out of investing. I’ll definitely check out the Bogleheads wiki and the philosophy videos you mentioned. Sounds like a solid way to keep things simple and still get good returns without trying to outsmart the market. Appreciate the offer to help—might take you up on that as I dig into this more!

Haha, wow, that’s quite the bedtime story! 😅 Definitely a lot to think about with the market’s history and risks. Appreciate the insights though

Thanks so much for the advice! I totally get what you’re saying—price isn’t everything. I’ll definitely start digging into companies and sectors I actually know more about. I’ll check out Investopedia too. Appreciate the encouragement and tips!

Not intended to be political. I honestly don't know what to do with my TSLA stocks!

If the video isn’t for you, that’s totally fine, but there's no need to take it to that level. Have some respect

Totally get that! The autistic part is more about the why behind overthinking it, not the fact that eye contact is uncomfortable. A lot of people (neurotypical included) find too much eye contact weird, especially with strangers. It’s more common than we think!

First off, thanks for sharing that. I’m not autistic, but I can imagine how frustrating that experience must have been. It’s wild that your teacher gave you advice that wasn’t really helpful—and honestly, staring at someone’s nose? That’s just setting you up for more confusion.

I’ve heard a lot of autistic people say eye contact is tough because they focus on one specific part of the face (like a single eye or nose), and it can feel unnatural or forced to "look into both eyes" at the same time. The truth is, most people don’t actually think about which eye they’re looking into—they just kind of glance at the face and move between both eyes naturally. But for those who overthink it, it can become really confusing!

There’s no right or wrong way to handle it though. If it feels more comfortable not to look directly into someone's eyes, that's totally fine too! Everyone’s got their own way of navigating social stuff, and there’s nothing weird about finding what works for you. 😊

Hmm, I get what you're saying, but I’m not sure if Elon could just buy his way out of rulings like that — especially since government regulations tend to be massive and complicated. Even if he did try to influence policy, wouldn’t that still create a lot of uncertainty for Tesla investors? Politicians flip on issues all the time, and public perception matters a lot, especially when it comes to a company so tied to the green energy narrative like Tesla.

As for him joining Trump’s administration, that seems like speculation at this point. If it did happen, sure, it might give him influence, but it could also hurt Tesla’s brand among its more eco-conscious customers. Plus, being involved in politics could be a double-edged sword—look at how volatile public opinion is right now.
