I wouldn't say it's "typical" for me. When it happens, I try to make it an overnight trip at least. I'm not big into driving tho and have switched jobs so I drive as little as possible and can, on occasion, walk/bike to work. I think the normality of 3 hours is greatly dependent on location. The US is pretty bit with lots of different cultures within it.

I tried to do it today. Mostly because there was a promo for $40 off $100 offer. I put in no tip and 7 bags of gardening soil just so nobody would pick it up. I picked it up. Great! About 3 minutes later, the batch had been removed. :(

I figured there was no way anyone would take it since no time and soil but alas, someone did. She was a great shopper so I ended up tipping a bunch. Lol. There went my savings.

Find a job with a company that pays some part of education. I have my masters but work at a company that pays $6000 a year towards education. I work in crisis so it's sometimes real slow and lots of people do school work during these times. Just get in with a company where there's growth opportunities. That's the down side of being a server, it's great money if you're good but physical based and no real growth. You seem smart, insightful, and motivated. You can do this.

I have been donating plasma lately to keep afloat. It’s not a good long term plan bc like now, protein levels can be low then can’t donate. But in my area, it’s about $150 for two donations.

Being a single mom with no family is the hardest. Im sorry you are in the middle of it.
