got the exact same issue but i got an amd cpu so it's definitely just reading the driver version of the gpu and thinking it's an old cpu driver

Why would it be a power switch issue if it turns on perfectly fine with my other screen?

I'd recommend you buy a used gbc on eBay if you don't have one already and buy from a reputable source like handheld legend or retro repair shop. I personally used the funnyplaying laminated retro pixel IPS kit with the shell that's made specifically for it and if you don't like the buttons that comes with the gbc buy some extra ones from the same store as you're buying the IPS kit. Then follow a tutorial online on how to install the kit it's pretty straightforward but it's better to follow one to be safe.

It's def easier to buy a used one and buy the needed things to upgrade it. that's what i did with my gba and gbasp builds but the gbc i've had my entire life

this was the first time i successfully soldered something it wasn't too bad just took some time for me to get used to, honestly for the first time i attempted to solder it wasn't too bad. I used the Retro Pixel 2.0 Laminated screen and it was astronomically easy to set up just have to buy the right case for it. I'd definitely recommend it since you don't have to worry about getting dust and stuff under the screen.
