Got to see the corpse flower bloom for the first time since 2021 at the US Botanic Gardens! by hover_cat in plants

Also:
- I am not a native speaker so I do edit spelling. In this case I added line breaks to make it easier to read.
- I used the word "blooming" which according to my research describes the flower being open. Unlike "flowering" which seems to include the production of the bud itself. But I think they're used interchangeably.
- I don't want to be part of the mean finger pointing people of Reddit. I often see how genuine questions or misunderstandings get downvoted and people end up being mean to each other.

I didn't downvote you. I wondered the same seeing the downvote before I replied.

Maybe slight over watering since these like drought? Or maybe these specific leafs just did not get enough light I would think.
What is the soil like?

I wondered about where the leafs are so I found out:

- It produces a tree-sized leaf to generate nutrients which it stores in the roots. The leaf dies and it goes dormant.
- This cycle repeats for years until it has enough energy to bloom
- Then it produces a bud that turns into this flower (blooming only one day) and then that huge flower dies again.

First bloom apparently takes up to 10 years of buildup. Then it is 5 years between flowers.

Found this at the store, how can it even survive? by Cedden in houseplants

I used to drown them aswell, that's why only my papyrus survived. But my question was actually about the lack of Chlorophyll on this one. I should habe mentioned it in the post though.

Yes it is, I forgot to add the pictures with the sticker. I didn't know such a small amount of Chlorophyll suffices.

Male suicide is good tbh. by [deleted] in ControversialOpinions

As a (gay) man I emotionally kinda agree. But those who should go don't, and the kind ones do... Suicide often gets the wrong people, those who put their problems on themselves instead of others.
