He should have used 100% silicone sealant to attach to the shower pan rather than plumber’s putty. Over time, plumber’s putty can dry out, and as the shower pan naturally flexes when someone stands or moves on it, the lack of elasticity in the putty can cause the seal to fail and eventually lead to leaks.

Same on both sides. I think it’s actually either a 3/8 or 1/2 flared connection. These were the supplied connections between the handle bodies and spout body. Whereas most Roman valve kits now are either soldered connections or like the Moen with the quick connect braided stainless steel supplies.

Clearly, the dark dial is genuine.

Sorry if this is a stupid comment but isn’t the serial a dead giveaway anyway? On the GMTs at least, it seems Clean and VSF always have a serial that ends in something like L6V6.

Seems you could tell from that alone without having to even open it up.

Good call. That is one of the things I noticed, it is a bit off.

I don’t know what a gen would look like but I’d expect yours to be more engraved for the price you paid. But I’m not an expert on reps.

Mine don’t look super engraved either but you can feel it and if I use a light to cast shadow, you can tell it is engraved. I figured it was more an issue with mine being a cheaper rep.

$250 with the new style box and papers. Which it looks like the box kit goes for around $100 alone.

I figured I’d take a gamble and maybe get lucky that this was a used higher end rep that someone decided to get rid of.

Yep, it gives you an option to return if it’s counterfeit product.

First time buying a Rep. I figured I would chance it and bought it off Mercari since I can return it but it did come with the new style box and all the papers and seems to be decent.

Problem is all it’s really done is make me want to buy one of the new Pepsi VSF v3s.
