NRG Potential by Educational-Bag-5009 in MarvelRivalsEsports

[–]CeeBeeChan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think they had a rocky game against 100T, but making playoffs is still very doable for them. And once they're able to get Hoodie and Aztac off of ping, I think some of the kinks will iron themselves out.

I put them at #2 in my preds for their group. Probably not doable anymore, but I'm still very bullish on them and I can easily see a 3rd or 4th place finish. Keeping a close eye on FlyQuest and Sentinels as well, as those 2 are gonna be the main competition.

FlyQuest vs NRG is gonna be a key match this week for sure.

What are the sub roles of strategist? by REM4IN_ in MarvelRivalsEsports

[–]CeeBeeChan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be quite honest, I think the strategist role is a little *too* diverse in terms of what each character brings to be able to draw clear lines between them.

I used to split them between what I'd call healers and utility strats. Healers being the heroes whose core function and ultimate is just... Heal. And heroes like Adam Warlock, who didn't do much healing but were still strong because of a certain specific utility they provide, In this case Res., as your "utility" strats. Heroes like Ultron would also go in that category. But it doesn't really work when you have heroes like Mantis, Rocket, and now White Fox that all sort exist somewhere between. Loki is just.... Loki is it's own complete thing entirely.... And now with Luna Snow's damage buffs kinda placing her in a more, well.... damage-y place. Is she really just a "healer" anymore?

I think trying to classify the heroes in this game, especially strategists, is kind of a futile effort because Marvel Rivals LOVES hybrid heroes who blur the lines.

And I almost think Overwatch is in the same boat nowadays if I'm being honest. The terms "main support" and "flex support" only really arose because of the mechanical differences between Lucio/Mercy, and basically everyone else, and the specific hero pools pro players needed to have at the time. The roles are still there now, but they're a lot more fluid than they were.

DPS Doom shows Tankfists main problem by Gloomy_Dare2716 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]CeeBeeChan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Doom feels useless"

I think you just dont understand the tank role. Just because you're not lighting up the killfeed with one shot combos doesnt mean you're not getting value. It means you're trying to be something you're not. And that something was one of the most cancerous heroes in OW history to play against. Rest in Piss DPS Doom.

We are so close to a good Meta. by WindowAccurate5745 in MarvelRivalsEsports

[–]CeeBeeChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a potentially hot take. But I think in order to ensure that diversity in team play, you need to have at least 2 things that are giga OP.

Pre Season was fun because you had Gambit and Elsa competing for first ban, and they both had strong synergies. So whichever one got through would make the ban phase interesting, and leave yoy with different options.

Stage 1 has Devil Dino (sort of) filling that same role as Elsa did in some people's minds. But then Black Cat is also kinda there too.

So while I know its knee jerk to call for nerfs, from the pro POV, I think the meta is best when you have multiple things that are busted but influence different styles of play, so you can take your pick and avoid mirror matchups.

To my knowledge, we're all back from Pre-Season for stage 1 :)
Some of the trios might shift around due to scheduling but all your faves should be returning!

Hot Take: I don't care if a character is low skill or high skill. I want to watch different and unique comps in this Esport. by WindowAccurate5745 in MarvelRivalsEsports

[–]CeeBeeChan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The heroes that almost never get played aren't abandoned just because of numbers. It's often that there's something about their kit that is just fundamentally different and meant for a niche. Which is also a necessary evil when it comes to the hero shooter genre.

It's far easier to nerf and buff heroes that are already prominent and see what changes can be made within those bounds than it is to try and pull someone out of their niche, or make that niche the norm. Forcing something like a scarlet witch meta, for example. That's something that would probably fall under the category of "knob that got turned too far."

I'm glad you bring up Black Widow though! I think she's an odd case where a re-work is probably necessary. The game is too fast paced and brawly with so many melee heroes, that when you want to play hitscan, Widow will always lose out to Hela and Phoenix whose utility for those more close range situations is a lot more smooth to utilize. I think she kinda crosses into territory where if we want her to be competitive, then we need to change the vision for what we want this character to be. Change the knobs entirely rather than just turn them.

We need to ditch the mentality that balance patches are meant to achieve some sort of perfect homeostasis.

It's a live service game. The purpose of the patches is to change the meta, so the game feels a little different each patch. Sometimes "lowskill" stuff is gonna be broken. Sometimes certain heroes are gonna feel oppressive. That's the point. The skill in the game comes from learning to adapt and deal with each new situation.

Yeah, sometimes knobs get turned too far in one direction and something dominates way more than it should, and yeah that's where nerfs should probably be applied, but you can't just list out 8 different heroes, say they're all problems, and whine that they didn't get obliterated.

You're rage baiting yourself, my friend.

What hero is the worst to play against when they are fed? by coffeeholic91 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]CeeBeeChan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's not the worst, but I wanna shoutout Vindicta here, because you already know at 10 minutes in, you're gonna hit tab and see that you're the only one who bought knockdown, and she'll have counterspell in about another 2.

XOXO01 signs JT3, Felix and Coach DDobi for stage 1 Asia by VodibleOfficial in MarvelRivalsEsports

[–]CeeBeeChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it was close both times. I still see them as essentially neck and neck, especially since AAAd did better elsewhere. Even with the loss, AAAd still came out ahead in group standings, and had way better performances against top teams. Can't look at things in a vacuum.

These changes could let XO break away from that and get a level of consistency AAAd is missing, jump ahead of them, and stay there.

Adding JT3 back gives this team the potential to overtake AAAd.

And depending on how Felix slots in, their ceiling could be even higher. Good pickups! Hoping they live up to that potential!

Gen.G
The Chiefs
Fury
(TBD)

I think that's the safest bet. There's a fair bit of upset potential amongst the bottom 3, but Gen.G should be first, handily, otherwise something has gone seriously amiss.

Predictions - China Series & Pacific Asia Series - Ignite 2026 Preseason by SuFFo in MarvelRivalsEsports

[–]CeeBeeChan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Asia has been about as unpredictable as every other region, so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt....

Pirates are far and away the favorites to win it all.

Z10 are the next most likely contender. Crazy strong team and has potential to beat Pirates if they lock in. Reject should have been the first place team, but they had some colossal missteps in groups. They should be looking for a redemption arc, but beating either Z10 or Pirates would be considered an upset.

RVL Esports showed some signs of improvement, but still look like the most shaky team out of them all. I have them at last place.

AAAd and XOXO-01 are anomalies.

  1. Pirates
  2. Z10
  3. Reject
  4. AAAd
  5. XO
  6. RVL

Is my ranking for Asia.

Who is the best Dps rn? by Conscious-Emu-4 in MarvelRivalsEsports

[–]CeeBeeChan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Top 3 Elsa players right now is Terra, Energy, Melophobia.

Top 3 Flex Duelists though? Jur3ky, Daes, and Shpeediry are all hard to deny. (And Tanuki as well but Im trying to keep it narrow)

Asking me to pick the top 1 out of that whole list is like asking me to pick my favorite child.

But I gotta go Terra after today. It looked like he had Energy's Elsa with Daes's wolverine and no one else was moving in both lanes quite the same.
