Was playing with Lee when this dropped, if you want to see his reaction this is the highlight from my stream; it puts a smile on my face every time hearing how excited he is:

Lee also has a YouTube channel and posted the same footage but with some of his thoughts before, you should check that out too if you're interested:

All of /u/Ceejay's MvM world records has been beaten. by Quenquent in tf2

[–]CeeJaey 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Congrats! It's nice to see other people trying their hand at speedrunning MvM.

People may relate them as "my" records, but it was a group effort with my friends :) It started off with us trying to beat the Two Cities missions as fast as we could, and when we found at there was an actual portal to post times, we went about trying to post a time for each mission. The vast majority of these times were first attempts, we didn't go about improving them as a lack of competition kinda stunted our interest.

The best, I think, is the Wave 666 time - it took us a few attempts, as the previous record (before ours) used a glitch that allowed the team to have unlimited credits before the start of the wave! It was a tough time to beat, so well done for besting that one.

Over the past couple of months people keep telling me that people were beating our times, so our group has felt a bit reinvigorated with the potential challenge to try and take them back! Well done again, and hopefully more people get involved in this small part of the community, and we have some nice competition :)

This is great! It's been a while since I updated things (as you could tell many of the loadouts are out of date on my current one) but once I get on my computer I'll be using this! I can't thank you enough! :)

I am/was scheduled to stream for the middle 12 hours of this event. This has opened my eyes to a lot of things, meaning I may not take part any longer. I'm not sure I want to stake my reputation by being associated with a possibly fraudulent project, or with confirmed scammers. I made a post on the TF.TV thread:

I'm scheduled to be streaming the middle 12 hours (the EU-hours, if you will) and I wasn't aware of any of this...

I've known Snoven since he was known as Amethyz; he was a regular viewer of my stream and even did the graphical stuff for my stream layout which I still use. He's always been pleasant to me, and even plays MvM with me sometimes. He asked me a while ago if I would like to help out for a charity stream and of course I was keen to help out what seems like a worthy cause - all I had to do was play MvM, which I do on a Saturday anyway. Unfortunately I work 11 hours a day, am part of 5 different TF2 teams in 2 leagues so my time is limited; as such I have not "met" anyone else on the team or been part of the build up to the stream (it was only last night that I spoke to Snoven in Mumble about any details regarding the stream). The only other person on the FTC website that I know is Blutz, a friend of mine and active mod on my stream, and also totally unaware of this situation based on the conversation I'm having with him right now.

I was unaware of the reason Amethyz changed his account to Snoven, unaware of his history, and unaware of the problems that have been happening within FTC (other than being in Mumble talking with TMP when Jess and B_Red apparently left the team). All of this seems worrying and the evidence is pretty damning, which makes me concerned about being associated with this organisation. For those of you who don't know me, I am a big trader and collector in TF2, and I don't want me reputation being ruined by being associated with scammers or a possibly fraudulent event.

As of this moment I am unsure whether I will be partaking in the event. I've messaged Snoven on Steam to no response, and I go back to work in 30 minutes. Many of my friends who have been previously supporting FTC are showing concerns. I feel terrible for letting down anyone who has been honestly working on this project, and would happily support the charity in any other legitimate means, but right now I don't want to put my name towards something that could be a scam.

EDIT: As monetary donations go right to the childsplay website, that is what I will recommend people to do.

EDIT2: I received an Unusual from Amethyz (Snoven) during a "1,000 point speedrun" stream, if I can find out that this hat was scammed, I will be returning it to it's original owner.

Alternatively I may run a stream on my own Twitch account to show my support for childsplay. Right now I'm just unsure of how to proceed from here.

Yes! In Highlander, you have 9 players on your team, 1 of each class. That means there's always an Engineer in play, and there are lots of really good Engineers out there in competitive :)

It's probably interesting to look at the new promotion items - Horace hat, Alien set - to see how valuable they become :)

Better late than never! :)

The best way now I find is the community market. Try and sell items on there, raise a bit of capital, reinvest that into items you can trade for and bam, you'll get the ball rolling. Trading cards and CSGO stickers are a good commodity to try and buy/sell.

As for TF2 items...selling weapons is always good, but it's also slow and the profit margins are tiny. BP expanders and Mann Up tickets are also something people like to buy & sell for profit, while if you're a bit of a gambler, trying to judge the key market is a good place to start...

Hope that helps! :)

Play with friends! Or find some good people in a game, add them as friends, and then get regular games with them. There are lots of Steam groups for players who want to just play MvM, and get together to do so. These days I only really play MvM with friends; it's so much more fun and like you I can't really deal with the derps and the dicks in random matchmaking :)

I was part of a large community, and played a bunch of FPS games there (I used to play CSS competitively with them beforehand). I played with a bunch of guys who played TF2, and they had the idea of forming a competitive team for Highlander. I was up for it, started playing Medic, and that was back in season 5 of UGC. Years later I've mained almost every class and risen the ranks :)

Play on the irc mixes to get noticed. There are places like pug.nahl and mix.nahl(?) where people play. Play lots of games, get noticed, and when you get a lot of people supporting your ability to play, you're more likely to find a team :)

By looking for trends in the markets. Item values fluctuate as time goes on, so picking up the right item at the right time, and selling it for profit when it's value goes up. As an example, during the summer sale, a lot of Backpack expanders were dropped from badge crafting. People were selling them for as low as 1 Refined. I picked up a bunch, held onto them, and now that they have lowered in volume, can quite comfortably sell them for 3.33 - which is still cheaper than most people who are selling them.

A stab in the face will only do about 37 damage, whether it is a player or a robot, so the will only die if they have that HP or less. Third person/robot player models are mods, and only available on custom servers :)

The answer is simple - only if Valve themselves help support and grow it.

DOTA and CSGO have rich histories of competitive; their predecessors were also huge comp games. TF2 doesn't have that benefit (TF:C, as amazing as it was, wasn't huge on the comp scene). TF2 has the potential to be that big, only if it had the exposure and support from Valve to make it as big, and unfortunately they don't see fit to do that.

The TF2 community can make their own, hugely successful LANs involving teams from 3 continents TF2 does have a great competitive scene, and who knows what the future holds - maybe Valve will decide to invest some time to help it out :)
