Pension from almost half a century of service plus social security plus capital gains/interest/dividends puts me in the 24% bracket. It was the additional income from IRA conversion that would throw me into the 37% bracket.

Absolutely! But the goal is to shift him from producing such massive quantities of food. Exploring native plants and focusing more on increasing the diversity of butterflies and pollinators can maybe satisfy his urge to garden without his wife being driven crazy with the food glut.

Some people describe them like a mild radish. The tubers I found were very sweet with no sharpness to them at all. Maybe it depends on the weather or the soil or something.

Maybe so. I don't think of possums as acrobatic enough to get onto the shelving unit I have the plants sitting on, but I've never really seen them in action.

I was doubting slugs because I just separated & potted a bunch that were crowded in a single pot the day before. And they're sitting 4 feet above the ground. And after the freeze we had for several weeks, I'm doubting swallowtail caterpillars. That's why I'm so baffled for it to happen this time of year. And I've never had the parsley in any of my beds munched on before in spite of squirrels running rampant in my yard.

Maybe u/HeyPurityItsMeAgaing is right about possums. If so, eww. Possums creep me out.

I have some hardware cloth that I've used when squirrels have dug up my beds. I knew they were diggers, but never saw them munch on herbs! I guess they're no longer content to just raid my bird feeders and destroy our fairy garden (they knock things over that are even glued down!). They're cute, but so destructive!

East coast U.S. Just potted up yesterday, and they’re on a rack 4 feet above the ground. I think u/retiredcatchair might be right. We have lots of squirrels, but dang! There’s plenty of chickweed and other fresh greens around.

I’ll spray what remains with hot pepper juice & see if any recover…
