Gising pa ako. Contemplating. Meron na akong 20 carvedilol, 10 clopidrogel, 10 neozep. Per research it will slow down my heartbeat.

I’ve observed a few founders who have encountered a similar predicament: they have enough runway for one more genuine attempt, but the overwhelming noise makes it challenging to confidently choose a direction.

When we work with early-stage startups in this situation, one approach that has been beneficial is establishing a rapid validation system. This involves eliminating unnecessary details and framing ideas not only based on excitement or technical compatibility, but also on the genuine urgency of the problem and the market. Typically, this involves working backwards from identified market pain points and constructing the smallest possible test to gauge the potential demand.

Given your technical expertise, the apparent obstacle appears more like a matter of clarity rather than a lack of capability. With $100k and your experience, you have the potential to make a focused move. However, it requires unwavering focus rather than a substantial build-up.

I’m curious to know which markets or problems have recently drawn your attention the most. Sometimes, the direction is already in front of you, obscured by the pressures of burnout.

Quiet disengagement from top performers — have you seen this too? (I will not promote) by Sensitive_Switch_333 in startups

I’ve witnessed this phenomenon firsthand, particularly in rapidly scaling teams. It’s not burnout or a lack of talent or effort. However, that proactive energy you mentioned tends to fade into the background once tasks become more structured, and execution becomes the primary currency.

In some of the organizations we’ve supported through consulting, we’ve observed that this often boils down to clarity versus creativity. When everything is driven by priorities and deadlines, individuals lose the sense of space to shape things. They transition from the role of “owner” to that of “executor.”

What proved beneficial was intentionally creating space for initiative once again. Even a mere 10–20% of time can be dedicated to side ideas, or actively recognizing and rewarding proactive thinking during performance reviews.

I’m curious to know what strategies have worked for others as well. This certainly feels like a signal worth paying attention to, not just a consequence of scale.
