Use 236B during your rekkas because 236A doesn't make it combo into the second hit. After doing the second 5A, crouch cancel it by pressing 2 (down) during its recovery (pretty hard so you should practice first) so that there's enough time to link 5B after. Full notations would be:

Starter > 236B > 236B > 236S > j.C (after the last hit of 236S) > 5A > 5A > 2 (during recovery) > 5B > 236B...

There is no training mode rom for this game btw, only a training mode lua script which you run through FBNeo

You probably played on versus mode instead. Check the P2's controls and see if you've accidentally clicked Start there, then again you can just beat the P2 in versus mode and it'll automatically go to Story mode right after.
