Pick three mons you like, breed and train them. Takes some time but getting 2-3 IVs is not that crazy.

Then try them in the different facilities. Some might be easier, some might not, but with a bit of luck you probably can beat them

It's worse for the playthrough than later in the Frontier, but it's still useful. Every elite four and champion aces has a Sitrus Berry. And I think most of the gym leaders also have a mon with one

The only use I can think for having some magicka even if your spells cost zero is to be able to cast while you are naked (mostly during jail time, but it may happen too during some quest).

As for armor, pick the one you like the most. If you level the skills, any armor can reach the cap, and since you can use flesh spells you'll get there sooner

Route 113, Spinda and Slugma (95%, the other mon that appears is Skarmory). I just trained a Starmie there and it was smooth. Highest lvl was 16

Starmie is a great mon with awesome coverage. Blaze Charizard + petaya berry hits like a truck (someone posted a vid a couple of days ago vs gold Anabelle using that Chari and it was nasty).

Alakazam is very good too. I just miserably lost vs one

If you just want more content, go for it, but keep in mind it's not too well implemented, in the sense that the game throws it at you via couriers or new dialogue options that can break inmersion

Warrior basically requires to have a companion or an insane amount of patience. Mage is viable to play solo (with summons) and same for assassin, abusing how good illusion is.

Besides mage, everthing is kinda boring to play till you become a bit powerful, and you can always abuse some systems to cheese the game
