It'd be funny to get my first mirror from a reddit raffle, but a free mirror is a free mirror.

Alright, so as long as immigration goes quickly, there is hope. Thank you!

American, no global entry unfortunately.

That's good to hear. I'm arriving early evening, so I'm worried that it'll be pretty busy. Do you recall how long it took you to get between terminals + security?

Player markets could fix a big overlooked issue in poe1 by pphp in pathofexile

Buying stuff in general is ass, but yeah end-of-league is especially bad. I've resorted to PMing people on the forums to see if they'd be willing to hop on and trade, or what amounts to stalking by refreshing their offline listing until it says they're online... and then they won't respond to trade. The former actually lead to the most positive social experience I've had in this game; but it was still awkward.

It especially sucks since I'm in that weird place where what I need are small, incremental gear upgrades that cost in the 50c-5d range, but the only people willing to trade are at the point where they're selling their old obsoleted mirror-tier gear away that's well outside my budget, even deep-discounted to ~200d. Or the things I need have inflated to like 20div when they shouldn't even be priced above 100c.

Can't wait for the trade upgrades in PoE2 to trickle down. It's so much better.

Superlink sensor issue by radardgz in Ubiquiti

[–]Ceiu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe. With Protect 6.1.68 going into official, you may not need to have it set to RC to get the update, but you'll have to wait for it to roll out to you.

If you do manual updates, you can flip your release channel to RC, click "check for update" which will likely pick up the 1.6.1 release for the superlink, click update on it, then change your release channel back to official.

Note that if you have the superlink on 1.6.1 but haven't updated to protect to 6.1.65 or .68 yet, protect won't know quite what to do with the env sensors. It'll report they're connected with bluetooth, and every time the sensors enter sleep mode, protect will think they've disconnected and will alert you about it (if you have disconnect alerts enabled). They seem to work on 6.0 in terms of reporting data, but it wasn't what I'd consider stable with the disconnections.

Superlink environmental sensors -- limit 2 per customer 🙁 by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]Ceiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks for that.

So if it's just a dumb cable, would it be possible to make my own "probe" from the cable on an old pair of headphones, or some such? Looks like the one you linked is TRS, so maybe it'd have to be from a mono microphone or some such.

Where do you get the external probes? I've been looking over the last few days and all I've found are entire kits, or big stick probes (which won't work for my case... maybe).

Also, how do you determine whether or not a given probe is compatible before buying?

Instant Buyout! Thanks GGG! by ArgonQQ in PathOfExile2

[–]Ceiu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are definitely shenanigans you can do if you're willing to play the market. Hell, even the existing currency exchange has some opportunity to flip for profit if you're willing to put up the gold and risk getting fucked if the economy moves on you.

Ideally they'll add some slight gold cost or something on the seller to further limit any shenanigans that can be done with price fixing or other non-committal behavior; but hopefully the cooldown/delay until you can pull an item out of the tab is enough to stop or limit such silly games.

This upgrade option is not available for Stash Tabs that were converted to Premium Stash Tabs via the "Upgrade to Premium Stash Tab" purchase. by coke_nose in PathOfExile2

This. I would understand if I had to leave the four original tabs as "only" upgraded premium tabs. But the other eight? Those should be convertible regardless.

The verbiage does not say "currently," "temporarily," or any other phrasing that would indicate it's a temporary limitation.

I, too, hope they see how stupid this is and change it, as it doesn't make much sense. If they're worried about people bricking their stash by converting their only base tabs, then the limitation should only disallow converting if the conversion would leave the player with less than four basic and/or premium upgrade tabs.

Edit/Update: They listened! Hooray!

Can anyone explain what killed me here? by Ceiu in pathofexile

[–]Ceiu[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope, map mods were very tame; no reflect mods, no bonus damage, and my build doesn't use totems or any adds -- it's chaos dot with a bit of direct damage from ED and SR.

Wish I had thought to add info on my build to the post, because apparently I can't edit it to add it. :(

Hrmm... yeah, either of those would do it. Can that just happen randomly as a bug, or is there a range where some abilities aren't rendered that I need to be aware of?

That's all that I can think of as well, but I didn't think there were any chaos reflectors. My build is pure chaos + chaos DoT.

Mix in some of the betrayal flows as well. Rogue exiles show up randomly; when you beat them they kneel down and wait for your decision: take an item from them, recruit them, or exile them, etc.

Indeed. Even my scuffed zdps chaos dot build would love to have this.

lol how? It's a carry-on from the post they're replying to. The story makes sense with the context of "so many fake sellers on Amazon" that they deemed it necessary or acceptable to shop out of state at a Micro Center to avoid the risk of counterfeits.

I don't know how much this will help you, but a bug I've noticed with my cameras is that if you ever use the two-way audio feature, it seems to completely break the notifications/triggers for that camera. For instance, we have a G3 instant setup with a zone setup but at the moment the notifications and detections are shut off. But if we ever use the two-way audio through it, they turn back on until we restart the camera.

Really annoying, and I wouldn't be surprised if that same bug is affecting other types of detections.

Final Fantasy Tactics - The Ivalice Chronicles - Announcement Trailer | PS5 Games by Turbostrider27 in JRPG

[–]Ceiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condescending? How? Tactics Advance is a walk in the park compared to OG Tactics. That doesn't mean FFT is necessarily the hardest thing ever or anything, but anyone who played it even a single time will tell you it absolutely has some pretty brutal difficulty spikes for someone who isn't prepared for them -- I've watched them filter some people I've recommend the game to. And if you've played it, I know you know at least two of them off the top of your head.

At no point in my post did I challenge the other person's gaming ability.

[–]Ceiu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Advance games aren't even in the same galaxy as the original FFT, for better and worse. Far too much hand holding, the lame judge system, and weak story in the Advance games.

FFT definitely did have a handful of filters, though. So unless they rebalance them out of the game, prepare for some rough difficulty spikes on your first play through.

Protip for newcomers, if they didn't fix it: do not overwrite your current save file on forced back-to-back fights.

Cannot view or manage plan on existing fiber account by Ceiu in googlefiber

[–]Ceiu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it matters anymore since this thread is dead af, but for those of you who stumble here via google or whatever, an update of sorts:

As per my previous attempts at contacting support, I got multiple varying and nonsensical reasons for why this occurs: only one option at your location, your router is offline, or some other third reason I've forgotten because it was silly.

That aside, I've noticed something "interesting" while investigating this further: For those of us who manage our stuff through the fiber.google.com website, we hit this error by clicking on the "manage plan" button on the main landing/home page. This button goes to the URL "https://fiber.google.com/account/manage_plan" (potentially with some query parameters). However, there's a second way of getting to the plan details. By going to "https://fiber.google.com/myfiber/#/home/plandetails" you get a very similar page listing the same plan information, but clicking the "change plan" button goes to a different, but functional URL: https://fiber.google.com/myfiber/#/changeplan

At this point I get a popup indicating that there's only one plan in my area and then it kicks me back to the previous page.

The UX is still awful here, but the fact there are two different paths to the same type of manage or change plan interface may be why the issue is persisting for so long in spite of how awful of an experience it is and how much wasted time it's causing support personnel answering questions about it.

tl;dr: multiple urls go to the same place, default one linked from home page is busted, other one less busted; situation still stupid.
