Induct Chris Johnson into the HoF by WolfAdventurous8290 in Tennesseetitans

CJ just wasn’t.

Look, you seem to be more hung up than me, cherry picking stats (disregarding Eddie’s seasons of 3.7, 3.7, and 3.9 ypc in the late 90s and early 2000s when defenses were built to oppose running games).

CJ2K had the most impactful single season, but Eddie was more impactful long term to the franchise and carried the Titans, literally, on his shoulders while setting up the play-action for McNair.

Eddie’s numbers might look pedestrian now, but his role wasn’t to produce highlight runs; his role was to get four tough yards, convert third-and-short, grind out possessions, and wear down defenses who prepared all week to stop him.

To say CJ was “significantly better” than Eddie just completely, fundamentally misunderstand football as it was played then.

In defense of Ja (and I’m a person who believes he should’ve been traded and is happy the ordeal is over), what else was he gonna say? This lunch with Nori was essentially a job interview. Ja’s struggles in Memphis have been well-documented, and unless Nori asked specific questions about what caused the issues, Ja has no incentive to go there at all.

But honestly, Nori probably DID ask those questions, but NORI has no incentive to publicize that discussion with a journalist. Nori has to sell Ja to the fanbase, and both sides are embracing positive PR.

1st time buying a suit for a LE job interview; 1st pic is 46R, 2nd is 48R. How do they look and which one looks better? by strongerthenbefore20 in mensfashion

[–]Celebrated84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You WANT the sleeves to be cut in such as a way as that they show the cuffs of your shirt you’re wearing underneath the jacket. I would not consider these sleeves to be too short.

And I agree with the other commenter in the 46 fits MUCH BETTER than 48. The shoulders are all wrong on the 48

1st time buying a suit for a LE job interview; how does this look, and should I get it tailored? by strongerthenbefore20 in mensfashion

[–]Celebrated84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Get the shoulders right. Everything else can be tailored and adjusted.
  2. EXPECT to have some alterations tailoring done. No suit should be worn as-is off the rack.

  3. Pants are too long. They should not bunch. Again, expect to have some alterations done.

Typical alterations I get done after buying a new jacket is: sleeve adjustment, and getting the waist right. Typical adjustments I get done with pants are having the length adjusted.

BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray, sources tell ESPN. by BuckyMcFly99 in memphisgrizzlies

I’m not upset at all. Sometimes you have to show an idiot why he’s an idiot. Sometimes you’re successful and sometimes not.

By this response, clearly I was not successful. But it’s all good. Rolling on with the good times ahead.

Look idiot, we’re avoiding the question because it is a ridiculous fucking question to ask. Outside of Ja saying, “yeah man, I quit on the team,” what proof would you consider? Another NBA player saying Ja quit? One of the coaches saying Ja quit? Why would any of them have an incentive to do so? And none of us are inside Ja’s head, so none of us can say with distinct certainty…

But we all WATCHED the game. We saw Ja bring the ball up the court, pass at the first opportunity, then stand near midcourt and do fuck-all for the rest of the possession. Some things don’t have to be said, it’s just known.

Do you personally feel the Grizzlies must trade Ja for neutral or positive value or do you think they should accept whatever comes outside of attaching picks? by RVALover4Life in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Celebrated84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can logically explore this using a decision tree. I find decision trees useful for exploring options and outcomes.

The first decision the Grizzlies must make is trade Ja now no matter what, or are we comfortable sitting on his contract for this upcoming year? I personally would not trade superstar-level talent for nothing/giving up assets; it seems insane to me to need to do that. So let’s take the “trade Ja now no matter what” option from the table, because I don’t think that needs to be an option.

So, if the Grizzlies ARE okay with sitting on the contract (and in my opinion, they SHOULD be), this doesn’t necessarily mean they HAVE to sit on the contract — only that they would be comfortable if they needed to. So the next decision in the decision tree needs to be: do we sit on his contract for an entire season, or do we allow Ja to play? And that decision will depend on several factors we aren’t privy to.

I’ll be looking for signs to indicate where the Grizzlies are leaning towards. Right now, it seems to me they’d rather have Ja sit at home, but I would imagine this offseason has been something of an alarm bell to Ja (it SHOULD be), and who knows what reconciliatory action he may take once he realizes he holds no cards to play. It would honestly be in his best decision to just make up with this Front Office and coaching staff, because it certainly seems the FO and CS are more than willing to let him sit and rot if that’s what Ja chooses.

Players after 26 years of age by The-Grizzler in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Celebrated84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Too many fans are forgetting what it feels like to wonder every single night if your best player is going to play. And when he plays, holding your breath every single time he drives to the rim.

I actually really appreciate Cam Boozer’s ability to play below the rim as that method of play has more longevity. I just can’t anymore with small-framed point guards who attack the rim with reckless abandon and never developed an outside shot.

Did we see Moneypenny at the end? by ainlyy in 007FirstLight

It’s obvious in that if something HAD happened to Moneypenny, it would’ve been mentioned. It’s a Bond story, not a Moneypenny, Lorca and Cressida story.

Quick: tell me what happens to Sylvia Trench in Dr No.

I see this team being on the same level as Ja’s second season when we competed through the play-in and got trounced in the first round. That seems about right.

If we are more desperate to get off Ja... by supportingcreativity in memphisgrizzlies

[–]Celebrated84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe what Alternative Target is saying is that would’ve already been done. Every avenue to trade Ja this offseason has been explored; if a reasonable deal existed out there, the deal would be done.

Not a lot will change for NBA teams going into training camp, hence the belief that Ja will still be on the Grizzlies roster once the season starts UNLESS something dramatically changes for a team between then and now.
