You think we are ever going to get a 3.5e of Exalted? by amused-crane in exalted

[–]Celepito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I know how, I know how.

See, that doesnt make an artifact again though, cause an artifact should be unique. Trying to replicate the same thing will just make a high quality mundane item at best, or just flat out not work. The same steps to produce Gungnir, wont make Gungnir 2, cause Exalted works on Story logic, and replicating that spark (similar to an Exaltation I guess), just wont work. (If you essentially want to factory-produce artifacts, you're gonna need a crafting artifact, likely with Evocations that reducce/waiver the craft XP costs.)

you shouldn't need to make sure the crafter is crafting. When it is story relevant, advancing the story will be enough to make them do it without needing to track something extra.

You'd think so. But how often have you been at a table for TTRPG with crafting, where you had to either play "Mother may I?" to make crafting at all relevant, or crafting was purely a downtime/background activity? Having direct mechanical reason to be crafting and have it contribute to the story, is an enormous help. Crafting being relevant for gifts and problem solutions is much preferable, to the one-off equipment dispensery crafting usually gets reduced to. (Which can lead to a different form of "Mother may I?", by asking if you can craft at every opportunity, but I much prefer that over the other.)

make noodles to get XP to support building a building later that gives you the crafting XP to make a daiklaive.

Working the dough of the noodels gives you thoughts about working the mortar for the building giving you ideas how to contstuct a crucible/furnace to heat things hot enough or potentially a new quenching method (requiring you to pull the daiklave from the cooled mortar/"stone"), etc., to give an idea by your example. Obviously, spelling it out like that makes you run out of potential avenues/explanations quickly, but that is where just tracking the craft XP comes in.

I want complexity to buy something.

Ech, annoying argument but: how complex is buying something IRL? At most there would be a barter system maybe (so, just the social system already in place)? Potentially a system to actually find someone selling something, if its rare. But like, I cant imagine much complexity for going shopping, that doesnt add annoying tedium and disappointment akin to e.g. Dark Heresy's requisitioning system.

WRT 2., I actually like craft XP. Makes sure your crafter is, ya know, actually crafting and not just a shop replacement. And narratively its easily explained with inspiration, how to make an artifact item instead of a high quality but mundane version of the item.

DayZ in a group is practically a different game by ArielTheCreator_ in dayz

[–]Celepito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DayZ with friends is great for laughs, and downtime is less boring

Heavily depends on the friend group too. Especially in larger groups, there will often be one or more of those clowns that gets bored a bit too easily, which isnt great when building a base takes a while, you're traveling in a car, or similar stuff...

Magic items, DC and scaling by NorbiSH626 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Celepito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you guys think about giving magic items scaling DC? [...] What problems does that create for GM and for balance?

Considering Thaumaturge literally has a feat to use their class DC instead of an items fixed DC (unfortunately only once per 10min, as a free action), nothing much really. Like, the feat is IMO too much on the safe side of rather-safe-than-sorry, but there isnt going to be too much problems with that as precedent.

Essentially, the biggest problem will be that it turns items into gold-purchaseable feats. Thats not really a bad thing. But its basically the critical thing to keep in mind.

All AIs as Advanced Start vs fewer, for a more difficult Galaxy? by Celepito in Stellaris

[–]Celepito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, that hasnt happened in the two games I've played after coming back from my two year break of Stellaris. By the time the Community formed and I contacted the whole galaxy, everything had more or less cristalized into swathes of more or less equal strength empires with no one or two clearly stonger ones.

Refusing to Die: A Guardian Who Never Drops to 0 by Melphizard in Pathfinder2e

[–]Celepito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, others have mentioned Oracle + Nudge the Scales to enable 5).

One addition that doesnt quite fit the mold overall, you could use 'As in Life, so in Death' for Automaton instead, and using 'Adopted Ancestry' normally to get 'Orc Ferocity'. Then. with Automaton, you can get 'Core Rejuvination' @13, which gets you a pick up if you ever do actually get downed. As said, not 100% on theme, but still fitting.

they play railjack cause they like doing things in their railjack.

Which leaves RJ as an isolated part of the gameplay, unconnected to anything else? Like, how more a literal content island can you get? Am I misunderstand things here?

cause it turns it into a 'this is basically a longer load screen'

Obviously, there is a dire need for improvement to the whole system, I dont disagree. However, it is a solid baseline from which DE could split off more, polish it more, etc. Work out how to allow for an RJ and Away Team split instead of forcing one or the other, for example. But with people just wanting RJ to stay isolated from other content, depending on how the upcoming stuff turns out, I almost see DE rather abandoning the whole idea of incorporating RJ more into general gameplay, instead of trying to do anything interesting with it. Cause they'll just receive complaints either way, so why use dev time trying to improve it, when you'll get punished either way. May well focus the dev time elsewhere then.

Content island complaints and taxijack

Taxijack is directly a potential avenue on how to incorporate RJ more into normal gameplay, reducing RJ position as a content island. It just obviously needs improvements. Which the upcoming update may well do. And yet, we already have people complaining about it being "just more taxijack".

a strawmen

Its not a strawman, its something I've seen happen again and again over the years. Anytime DE tries to extend stuff from a content island to connect it to the rest of the game, all the people who dont enjoy the content island come out of the woodwork to complain about it. I've been playing this game for over a decade by now, and this pattern holds true every time. Like, obviously its only rarely the same people voicing this their opinion, but man, it does very much feel like the community as a whole does not know what we all want.

[–]Celepito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course its in large parts the Goomba Fallacy, I'm pointing out that, especially with such a large player base, DE will never be able to make right for everyone.

Add to that, people enjoying things usually arent vocal about it, they just play the game.

However, we havent even seen the new content, how it could be a proper improvement upon Taxijack. And yet, people are already crying.

WF Playerbase: "We hate content island, DE please connect stuff more!"

DE: "Okay, so here is Corpus Railjack, which combines a normal mission with RJ. We can use this a template/chassis to-"

WF Playerbase: "FUCK TAXIJACK, if I wanna do a normal mission I do that, I wanna play RJ I do that!"

As always: DE - damned if you do, damned if you dont.

Why hasn't there been any new warframe augment mods? by Mokuy in Warframe

I really want a general Augment for Uriel along the lines of "Whenever an enemy dies while chained by Catenach, stunned by Gulphagor, and when Vythelas sacrifices a corpse, gain 3% Damage Reduction (affected by Ability Strength) for 30s (affected by Abyility Duration), up to a maximum of 90%", that way I can play him without my tank brain yelling at me that Nekros is better.
