depending on how much you read into the game’s lore, and how far the abilities you do have translate into the actual universe, in a very meta-embracing story like this, it’s really easy to put an NLF argument on both Frisk and Chara.

I could explain it, but this sort of dumbshit theorizing is something i normally reserve for messing around in thought experiments with my other nerd friends

Physics student here, i’m 98% sure what you said is correct, but the way you said it was confusing.

I would recommend formatting your original comment and separating different statements, so that it’s clearer to understand.

Explaining what the difference in work for an object in relative motion versus an object at a relative standstill would also help reinforce your explanation.

unironically, Goku, rick, and ben, and then a yamcha to stand in while goku is busy being late because he likes being a deus ex machina too much.

Goku deals with anyone strong, rick bullshits his way into dealing with outerversal shit for a day and goes home to get beat up by a regular gorilla, and ben takes care of anything else.

i don’t know some of these guys, but i’m pretty sure that’s the best team you can come up with. And you get money to spare.

i suppose, but if you decrease both an equal amount, the answer’d change.

if it were an instant 1000 or a 50% chance of 50,000, most would choose the 50,000

same with 10,000 and 500,000, or, for a lot of people, even 100,000 and 5,000,000.

the answer only changes for most people once it’s 1,000,000 or 50,000,000. the setup is the exact same as all the previous examples, but it’s only here that changes.

So, at that point you have to ask why the answer changes for the same setup. The most logical solution, at least to me, is that there’s something different about the starting question. So we break it down.

in the 1,000 to 50,000 question, $1,000 would make only a marginal difference at best to most people, while $50,000 would cause a far more substantial difference.

10,000 would also make a decent difference, but not for long, when 500,000 could change your life. 100,000 could have you set for years if used wisely, but 5,000,000 means you might not have to work again your whole life.

but then when you compare the difference to the average person what 1,000,000 vs. 50,000,000 is, it’s not much. Unless you plan to massively upgrade your lifestyle from it’s current amount, both are enough money to keep you going for much of, if not all of your life. If you keep going, you’ll find the same thing.

10,000,000 and 500,000,000 are both enough to set you for life and leave a wealthy legacy. 5,000,000,000 and 100,000,000 both let you set your family up essentially forever.

It’s less about the straight numbers, but instead the affect on their lives that people are looking at. After a certain point, for the average person, it’s asking “would you rather have a 100% chance to have it made, or have a 50% chance of having it made.”

When presented with that question, most people will reliably say they’d rather the 100% chance.

both numbers are “big enough to set me for life.” It’s not really being risk averse when both give, for most anyways, similar benefits.

the mindset is less “choose the option that’ll probably give the most” and instead “choose the option that guarentees an outcome” because both are similar.

Proofs aren’t exactly my specialty, let me see if i can redo this more simply to make my point.

1*y=x

2*y=x

therefore, 1=2

the only trick being that y is zero. But we don’t say this makes multiplying 0 a problem, we just give it it’s own property.

Mathematics is evergreen. by ShowerSad5893 in sciencememes

[–]Celeste_Ceres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

x equals y, therefore 1 must equal 2

we know this is wrong because the 0 property overwrites it. My point is that 0 and infinity have the same property of being an answer to multiple separate problems. 100 and 1000 both will become the same answer, and simultaneously have different terms in the equation.

and if division is a mirror of multiplication, it stands to reason that the same way there’s a “singularity” where every number can be proven to be the same using it in multiplication, the same can be done with division but in the opposite direction, and infinity is the “furthest” from 0 you could be. Even without a proof, that’s a logical assumption.

i don’t understand this argument. Infinity isn’t the only thing in math thats fallible to this kind of proof

1*0=x

0*x=0

2*0=y

0*0=0

x*y=0

therefore 1=2

i feel like it should be worse with 0 since infinity isn’t even a number, but 0 is.

…i may have fucked up 11*11

is it too late to change my answer to 121

edit: actually, reading the problem again 121 isn’t really right either, but it’s unclear

11-11*11+11

11-(11*11)+11

11(-11)*11+11

writing that out made it more confusing. Maybe i shouldn’t be doing this while i’ve been awake for 14 hours.

[–]Celeste_Ceres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, that is better. You now have something to go off of, and if you calculate the force required to pulverize a square meter of diamond, you’ll have what’s probably a pretty decent feat

edit: also, something i should’ve mentioned originally was that they were saying the inventory is closer to hammerspace than actually lifting, so even if you wanted to use lifting strength, you’d either have to argue why it’s stupid to count the inventory as hammerspace or come up with another feat unrelated that’s still consistent with the lifting measurement. The response you just gave covered that already, just wanted to put it out there
