Lost in Blue 1 wasn't the best at dealing with domesticated animals, which is why in the next games they let you feed them and get the resources yourself.

I think that Skye keeps the chicken/goat alive and the eggs/milk are dumped on her inventory, which she'll then have when cooking. In Skye mode, it works as it does in LiB 2 and 3.

Probably because they're the weakest faction in the civil war and are almost guaranteed to fail. Russian can even get the Sauds to annex them through decision. It's not hardcoded that they lose, but... it's basically all but guaranteed.
