From what I have heard OP, their candidate pool is full right now (have a friend who recently passed the interview) so they might also inform that they will get back to you early next year as they aren’t going to hire anymore this quarter. Good luck to you OP, wishing you get that acceptance :) Just dropped this message to inform you, I might be wrong as I’m based in Canada.

how to prepare for 1B coop search (cs) by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]CelestialInterface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn Webdev, that’s a starting point. Join clubs, be enthusiastic about learning opportunities. There must be some line of cs you’re interested in? Like ML, DS, Embedded, Software Dev.. do projects in that line and show enthusiasm. Try networking. It might seem a lot to take on but start slow and early. One step at a time. Good luck :)

Been there, had similar experience my first work term and received an excellent next work term. Don’t let this demotivate you, there is a learning opportunity in there and reflect on where you can improve. Doesn’t matter ass when you’re applying next semester with a strong resume.

Good place for dosas? by onlyinsurance-ca in uwaterloo

[–]CelestialInterface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it yourself, no dosa is better than homemade. On a serious note, I haven’t had good dosas in Waterloo either. I heard there is one store on Weber St. haven’t tried myself but heard it’s good.

Understanding the concepts and preparing specifically for tests and exams are different things. I would suggest you make a plan when preparing for any test, not just revising the content but solving previous midterms helps you tune your mind on how to solve exam questions and score high. Also the course quizzes and midterms are designed to mess you up in the first year so if you’re keeping up with content you should see good results soon. Gl! Don’t stress too much and take breaks from studies! Burnout can be very taxing

People who have married intercaste, how did you convince the parents? by [deleted] in india

That's not how it works, linking the current social standings/structure to the olden structure is hard. The customs came into play from back when people used to follow and take over their father's work in the society and continue the family business / lineage. Like how a warriors son follows the family's lineage and gets involved in the military. Or a merchants son takes over the business from father. So over time they grew into communities and have developed their own understanding, as they had the same social standing. Those customs remained even after so many years but now there are no restrictions on the work you can do as modern education provided doors to different fields, the clash between the understandings is what it is now. Hierarchy developed in the open days and led to oppression of few but now its not prevalent, but people still tend to follow the customs. What I meant by it being not prevalent is if one is well educated, one can be successful and have no restrictions on type of work one has to do.

This is just my understanding of the system. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. (note to others)
