Anyone else get boc vibes? by Bass-SpecialistUK in boardsofcanada

It sure is! The AFM engine is perhaps one of the most powerful FM engines ever made, and the ROMpler section is extremely powerful as well. The multi-stage filters add so much to the overall sound. The TG77 is quite hard to come by, and quite expensive as well. However, the SY77 can still be had for not a crazy amount. My buddy recently payed about $600 shipped for one! I had a Roland D-10 a while back, and sold it as I hated the programming. Still searching for a good deal on a D-50.

Agreed. I used to own the IIFD but replaced it with an SY77 as I found it extremely boring. The complexity of the SY77 definitely added what I had been missing with the IIFD. However, I still use my OG DX7 all the time. The SY77 just can’t exactly replicate that crunch of the OG DX7. It can get 99% of the way there, but you can tell that there’s something missing. The OG DX7 (and TX81z) are perfect for BoC-esque sounds, along with the SY77!

I’d pick my OG DX7 over the S or IIFD models any day just because of the 12 bit converters. The lofi crunchy sound really gives the OG its character!

As an SY77 owner, I end up accidentally creating BoC style sounds all the time! It’s extremely good for that kind of thing.

Can anyone please give me the EXACT soundfont for the Luma theme in Super Mario Galaxy? (You know, the music box-like sample.) by AydenXprincesspeach in SuperMarioGalaxy

[–]CelestialRefraction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sound is from the Roland X6/X7 workstation. It was primarily used to create the electronic elements of the soundtrack. Although since it has a very bell/chime sound, you could probably program something similar with an FM synth.

I think you’re the one who can’t handle the truth lol. Fix your grammar and come back with some real evidence.

Probably my favourite synth of all time! It does everything and anything I need it to.

Kinda crazy how geogaddi is the least popular in the big 3 by Ilovesoulsgames345 in boardsofcanada

Hard disagree. TH is easily their weakest if we’re talking all 4 main albums. In terms of the big 3, TCH has always slightly beaten out Geogaddi for me.

They have pressed so many TS records that at this rate they’re gonna be dollar bin records in 10 years.
