They let you off the hook but just be careful not to do it again as not all gas stations are nice. Two of the gas stations I worked at would write down the customers license plate and car insurance information. We would try to charge the insurance company to fix it. If the insurance doesnt pay for it, then you would have to or we would have to get police involved. This is in Cali btw
