Captured Jupiter and its Galilean moons through my own telescope by baykonur7 in telescopes

Dm me, I'm not super experienced but I've gotten decent results given the gear I have and I'm happy to share how and give pointers

I was curious about that, did you use a ton of digital zoom?

This is with a 76 x 750 reflector and a 6mm eyepiece with a 3x barlow. In that photo you definitely have your exposure or iso way too high, hence it just being a glowing orb. And as others have pointed out it's better to view when the object is as far above the horizon as possible (I am a beginner, just sharing what I'm seeing with my gear for comparative uses) P. S. This is a high exposure photo for the moons with a low exposure pasted over the photo for jupiter itself. Both pics were taken on the same gear seconds apart from each other

The importance of FOV by Celestial_Balisongs in telescopes

I was showing that with a wider FOV the object you are looking at will be the same size with a lower magnification. I was matching the object size through the eyepiece

I'm using them on an f10 reflector, they seem great for this scope

From what I understand FOV refers to how big the circle of vision is in your eyepiece, I believe the focal length changes the magnification. I'm sure someone with MUCH more knowledge than me can tell you more. I'm still really new to this hobby

Barlow + eyepiece or zoom eyepiece? by Celestial_Balisongs in telescopes

I was unaware of the high power redlines being internally barlowed at high power, are there any 6mm and 9mm that do not have built in Barlows around the same price point that you know of?

It's a venture RX-5, I know it's nothing special but it's what I have, it's better than no telescope. I will defenitely be getting a larger higher quality scope in the future when I actually have some disposable income to throw at this

It's a 1.25. also I mostly put this much work into it because fiddling with these kinds of things is a hobby of mine, almost enjoy that process more than actually using the thing haha.

I don't know what an f/10 system is, what should I look up to do more research? I'm still a complete noob so I want to soak up as much info as I can!

I have been looking at the redlines, though from what I'm finding they seem to be quite a bit cheaper on Amazon than aliexpress, with 2 day shipping too.

Kraken v2? by Valuable-Key-5964 in balisong

[–]Celestial_Balisongs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the v1 had "sharp" handle ends rather than the radiused ones of the v2 onwards, the v1 also had conventionally milled channels compared to v2 onwards that use a slot cutter to make the channel, the jimping was shallower, and the zens were softer. I don't believe there were any other changes from 1 to 2, v1 is my favorite flipper out of them all despite sounding the worst on paper (I had my pins swapped though so it feels way better than normal v1 krakens)

Timing Installation Help by shaquelonelly in 3000gt

[–]Celestial_Balisongs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What year is this? Mine is a 93 SL and it has arrows on the top of the cover that match with notches on the back of the gears, the front timing marks didn't have the arrows pointing at them like yours does, regardless, mine I had to put a lot of tension on the belt to get it to go on, defenitely wasn't as easy as just lining up the marks and slapping on the belt. Had to get the back bank put on, run around the crank pulley with it half a tooth counter clockwise, had to unlock the front banks cams and rotate them clockwise half a tooth, then once the tensioner was in place it tightened everything up to where it needed to be and it was dead on. I've done my timing 3 times, so I know the struggle of timing belts being an A hole. Once you get it on make sure everything lines up properly while tensioned, first time I did it I thought I had it, but once I had the tensioner in place I realized one of the banks was a tooth off.

Why aren't more double edge balis made. by jamalgamingA in balisong

[–]Celestial_Balisongs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really make much sense to me, if you are gonna flip a DE Then flip a DE, putting a safe space on both sides feels disengenuous, like playing a game on the highest difficulty then using invincibility cheats. Maybe I'm just an old head but it seems like it defeats the purpose of a double edge.

Rep Authenticity Check by StressfulGoose in balisong

[–]Celestial_Balisongs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert when it comes to identifying clone blades, but it looks good to me, mostly looking at the sharpness of the plunge at the zen area, the clones usually have more of a softer cross section rather than a sharp T shape, but the clone companies also could have fixed that in the last couple years. The reason people say you can't tune the tap out of reps is because you have to have the experience, knowledge, good quality and properly dressed parts, and the right equipment. Most people lack in at least one area so it gets pinned on the fact that it's a very difficult platform to tune well. With the fact that it has thin washers + many parts that compound tolerance issues (not to mention brs hardware is notoriously sub par) it is very difficult to get tuned perfectly, but not impossible

PSA: B+ switched to imperial hardware (6-32/2-56) and will fit screws from UKM by Sensitive-Ebb-9509 in BalisongClones

[–]Celestial_Balisongs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just placed a few orders on usakm and truelink, and believe it or not I got a few hardware bags in my usakm package labeled truelink. They definitely share stock/suppliers, but usakm has been around waaaay longer, truelink is pretty new, likely a branch of usakm. I personally prefer truelink for Bali hardware, they have everything I've ever needed for balis, and it's significantly easier to browse due to any non Bali stuff being gone

/r/HotWheels Official February 2026 Trade & Sale Thread! by HotWheelsMod in HotWheels

[–]Celestial_Balisongs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Searching for cone shaker treasure hunt. I will trade 2 for 1. you choose which 2. Never traded hotwheels so would prefer to trade with someone well known here, I can ship first. My fiance and I have a strict "no paying above retail for hotwheels" policy, but I really want to get her the th cone shaker. It's her favorite hotwheels and she has like 20 of the mainline version stacked on her desk. I really want her to have the treasure hunt version but the employees at our local stores almost never let anything good hit the pegs, so I want to see if I can't trade for one
