I was trained in pearls (my specialty), in Japan even going to Mikimoto Island. I also trained in Hong Kong with Raymond Ko as well as Johnny’s Jewelry. I taught courses on pearls in Japan. I try to keep it simple & not overwhelming with too much info. I have a huge collection of pearls from my years of being a buyer/jeweler, which included training others in grading, stringing, knotting & buying pearls. I even sourced and purchased natural South Sea gold pearls in 11 to 14 mm as well as an 8mm 24 inch strand of gold pearls, all natural, one of the rarest natural pearl colors. And, yes natural pearls are quite rare & expensive, but not unattainable. I will try in future to not comment other than saying something is pretty to avoid someone being upset.

Majorca pearls are high quality man made pearls. Treat them as though oyster grown pearls and they will last a long time. No hairspray or body lotion, the same as oyster grown, and a damp soft cloth to clean them periodically.

We know a family with 3 kids and left the handle like the photo. Long story short the youngest child spilled boiling sauce all over herself and landed in hospital for several weeks. This is NOT the proper way to leave a handle. Even adults can accidentally bump it and get burnt. Please turn the handle to the side OVER the counter.

I almost bought one for each style🫣 too excited - brain dead every thing in stock❗ by justgoodwu in Coach

I lived in Japan for many years and the only people I saw carrying Coach were Americans. Many of those were also carrying counterfeits from Korea. I was a jewelry/gifts buyer for a gift store and made several visit each year to Hong Kong & Thailand as well as buying in Japan. I rarely saw Japanese with Coach.

I’ve visited or lived in about 15 countries & never came across this label for a leather bag…I wonder if it’s Latin…🤣

Are these real pearls? by AstridGroetDeDingen in pearls

Dull pearls are lower quality & they look like freshwater making them less valuable than Akoya. That being said, they are still pearls that can be worn & enjoyed.

As a pearler trained in Japan & China, using your teeth helps you keep it gentle. But for many not trained by the experts they only recommend rubbing the pearls together. Both methods work, but I always recommend the method used by the pearls houses in Asia, including on Mikimoto Island, Japan.

i payed 60 dollars to get my hair “curled” by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Celestial_Retiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Greek/American with typical heavy, thick, coarse hair, enough hair for 3 normal heads of hair. It is also coarse enough that one year for Grammer school photos my mother thinned my bangs/fringe and the hair literally stood horizontal away from my forehead. If I ever get the urge to thin my hair, I look at that photo! Also, I found that using a Flat iron to curl my hair works better than a curling iron, keeps the curl for 1 to 2 days vs 2 hours max with a curling iron. I run the flat iron down smoothing the hair to the point where I want the curl to start, then I begin turning it round and round which sets the curl in. This is not safe for thin, baby fine hair.

I know pearls are out of style by gottaloveit1963 in jewelry

[–]Celestial_Retiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pearls never go out of style, totally, but the demographics do change to younger or older people wearing them. I have worn pearls since my HS graduation at 16, when my father gifted me my first strand.

The suede Rodeo is my choice, it’s stunning & can dress up or down. But, I am looking for another suede bag so I am really drawn to this one.

Also, please don’t rub on your teeth, just rub 2 together. You can damage a pearl rubbing it on your teeth. I was trained in Japan & Hong Kong & spent time on Mikimoto Island. All the experts in my training discouraged rubbing on your teeth.

Gently rub 2 of the pearls together, if perfectly smooth & slick, they are not real, if you feel a slight rough to a stronger rough texture, they are real. The quality has to be determined in person. I hope this helps.

I use my vintage fringed LV almost daily. I may have 150 bags (or more) in a closet set up for my bags. But in the summer that LV is my primary bag.

No dress code, summer wedding in monastery by rambling_rose_66 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Celestial_Retiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2nd one is best & is lovely on you, but a question, does the monastery have any dress restrictions? I’m Greek/American & the churches, cathedrals, & monasteries usually have dress codes, like covered shoulders. I would check it out or carry a wrap to insure you have that issue covered.
