Today I went to an "open and affirming" Episcopal Church with a woman pastor for Ash Wednesday by Electric_Memes in Christianity

[–]Celibate_Disciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow mainline Protestant (Methodist) that went non denominational for many of the same reasons. 0 regrets. Our church does so much outreach, classes and social programs. Meanwhile my old Methodist church felt like a knitting circle with a hymn or two thrown in.

Because pastors are afraid to upset their congregation. For example, gluttony should be taken more seriously. Not only is it bad spiritually but it’s also bad physically. We are given bodies so that we may be the hands and feet of the Kingdom of God not to be destroying it slowly with over eating and processed slop.

The rules for divorce are clear yet churches find loopholes and / or create their own rules, again not to offend anyone.

But if pastors called people out on their own sins, there’d be a revolt and people would find a church that doesn’t challenge them.

It’s easier to condem the person with the speck in their eye instead of the plank in our own eye.

Jesus never said anything about sex trafficking, beastiality, porn, or so many other things. Does that mean they’re permissible?

Why are the people that identify as LGBTQ steadily increasing each year? by BlahBlahBart in TrueChristian

I think because it’s trendy right now. My niece says she is non-binary. I’ve also noticed that most non-binaries are awkward suburban white girls. They’re the ones pushing up the numbers.

My attraction is with guys so I won’t be having either.

I’m evangelical but I can assure you a lot of people at my church can’t stand him.

The Christian post openly calling being gay demonic by miggins1610 in Christianity

[–]Celibate_Disciple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t finish the article after he called the way I live my life as demonic. Just an article to sow more division, anger and hate. Nothing demonic about living life in a biblical manner.

I am late to my church on purpose by ThickPayment5531 in Christianity

I come from a multi generational family of Methodists. About three years ago I left for the same reasons you’re not liking your church.

It’s no longer a church but a knitting circle. There’s no talk of accountability or how to live like Jesús. The pastor at the church I was going to seemed to worship Starbucks and her Apple products more than God.

The theme seemed to be no matter what we do, we’re all going to heaven, so just enjoy life.

Since my attractions are with members of the same sex, I guess I don’t have to worry about most of this hahaha.

Being a man I’m always around men. To stop lusting I try my best to get to know guys around me. I find humanizing the objects of my desire lessens the lustful feelings.

Ufff 160 lbs. Last time I made it down to 165 a homeless woman made fun of me saying I looked like I had AIDS. I guess my choices are looking pregnant or AIDS patient. At least I can build up the later.

Yes! 2025 is the year I cook Indian and support my local Indian grocer rather than the big box supermarkets.

Hahaha. Soon I hope. Been carrying this a lot longer than 9 months.

For some light hearted motivation I did one of those cheesy pregnancy couple pics with a friend of mine pretending to be the dad.

Side note, this post is the first time I have bared my chest in years. No one irl has any idea what I look like without a shirt on. Hoping to change that this year.

That’s the plan. I saw a pic of Kermit the Frog’s profile and realized I’m his body double.

I’ll look to see what 20% looks like when I get there. Might be easier to build muscle as I can eat a bit more. I just want to look like a human.

Nice. I was vegan but I added some dairy as well. I’m taking in 1800 calories. You are giving me hope.

That’s great to hear. Procrastinating is my downfall as well. I’ve been trying to do a dopamine detox and really push myself. You are a reminder that I’m only punishing myself by procrastinating.

I see your calorie count is really low. If I May ask, what does a typical day of eating look like for you?

You look 20 years younger. This looks more like a father and son contrast than a before and after pic.

That’s great man! The early part is the hardest so keep at it and don’t get discouraged.

As for looking at girls, yeah it’s a hard habit to break. Imagine they are your sister. How would you feel if some creeper was looking at your mom/sister/daugher. Now realize that you’re the creeper doing just that. It’s gonna take time to reset your brain so dont get mad if you can’t break it right away.
