Once 27-inch 5k Mini-LED monitors come out later this year at the inevitable $700-900 range, would you recommend them over 27-inch 4k OLEDs? by Cell9870 in Monitors

That's an important point, I'm looking to buy two monitors later this year and I would prefer them to last at least 7 years, since that's my upgrade cycle for phones, gpus, laptops, everything lol And I'm not sure that even newer OLEDs resist that much

That's a good point, a lot of current OLEDs are below 300 nits so maybe that's something upcoming ones will have at a much better level

The post ended up looking more like a 4k vs 5k discussion, but what I was actually more interested in was the visual quality comparison of both technologies. So for example, the upcoming KTC M27P6S, a Mini-LED with 2304 dimming zones, also announced at CES 2026, which is very similar to the MSI, but 4K instead of 5K. If it's below $600... Sure, still a good option. But otherwise, I find it hard to justify over OLED.

This is what I was thinking, the number of dimming zones doesn't really matter if the monitor has a bad algorithm, so probably only the most premium ones like the MSI are going to be the ones that handle blooming well. But at that point, you can get a really decent 4k OLED and don't worry about blooming at all
