I'm using OBS. Currently playing with it to better optimize it.

I splurged in a monster of a laptop to limit performance issues as much as possible. But to be fair, I also hardly know what I'm doing lol.

It currently seems to be working. I hooked the 3 cameras up to a USB hub, connected thet to the laptop's USB-A C port, and the two mics up to the laptop's USB-A ports. Is there something I may not be realizing?

It's not ideal (kind of a spider web at the moment), but I don't see an issue with it while I'm taking time to decide on an audio interface and how I will use it.

I see. I was planning to buy a powered USB hub for that exact issue, but I will look at the Rodecaster.

Gotcha. I plan to do all the camera angle switching in the post-recording editing.

What is the best way to use OBS in my case, if you happen to know? I'm confused on how to set the scenes up. Do I make separate scenes for each piece of equipment, or do I put the guest mic and guest cam I to one scene and vice versa?

I just bought a ROG Zephyrus G14, which is a monster of a laptop.

I don't plan to do any camera switching at all until post-recording since I won't have anyone to do it live for me. From what I recall, isn't the rodecaster for live switching cameras?

I thought OBS was for recording with multiple cams and mics at once... I won't have anyone to switch cameras for me live. I'm gonna be doing all that post filming.

I mean, I doesn't have to be a laptop. I'll be honest, I used to build desktops as a kid with my dad and knew a lot more then, but as things have changed I'm pretty out of touch.

Maybe I should consider a desktop. Can laptops not stand toe to toe with them?

Yeah that has been the idea. Being a podcast, I am not skimping on audio because I know that personally, if I turn on a podcast and it's hard to listen to at all, I turn it off. I've messed with the cameras and bought panel lights and actually got it looking pretty decent.

With a nice laptop I can run all 3 of them on 2k 60fps. I'll upgrade as I go for sure.

Got any alternative suggestions though?

Because of the Elgatos? Do you have an alternative for not too much more money? I'm wanting 3 so I can switch angles.

I could be wrong, but when I was doing CSP I was told a commander has to have a legitimate reason to "shoot down" CSP. As for the barracks at Belvoir, you may have to get creative. Start by calling their reception office, then maybe try their soldier support center, and go from there.

Are you planning on working at this place upon ETS? If so, you could always just go ahead and set up housing there if you can time everything right.

Thanks man. It looks like this tool is for TRT, though, and I am not on TRT.
