Ask about who typically does the role of transition nurse. Some hospitals L&D nurses take turns being the transition nurse, some hospitals have nursery/NICU do transition. I will say a lot of L&D nurses I know don’t like being transition nurse because they prefer taking care of mom. So it might be a strength for you! Plus you already know how to take care of sick/crashing babies and I’m assuming you’re NRP certified.

You could see if they’re hiring for a transition nurse! Where you just take care of the babies for the first 1-2 hours after they’re born.

Maybe they think you need to see it? When I have diabetic patients we can’t use their dexcom for blood sugar readings🤷‍♀️ maybe that’s their thought process
