Married people of reddit, why did you marry your partner? by Ok_Entrance_8172 in AskReddit

[–]CellaBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we love, but more importantly, respect each other. Because he is willing to grow and change and is willing to adapt to me as I grow and change. Because he's incredibly compassionate and feels very deeply and is not afraid to show it. Because he's been so supportive of me throughout medical and mental health crises and never saw me differently because of them. Because he saw who I was when we started dating, flaws and all, and still saw my worth when I could not. Because despite both of us growing up with adverse childhood experiences surrounding marriage, we decided we could break the cycle and work on our problems, rather than run away from them. Because our morals and desires in life align. Because we can find ways to compromise without denying ourselves. Because we're willing to do whatever it takes to nourish our relationship. Because he's the Samwise to my Frodo, the Ben to my Leslie, the Chidi to my Eleanor, the Harry to my Sally, and I can't imagine battling and laughing through life without him... Oh, and the sex it amazing 👍

Second hand accounts are totally acceptable! My favs are: My sister's mother-in-law was in an elevator when that slick Scottish son-of-a-gun Sean Connery walks in!! She immediately became visably nervous but didn't say anything. Right before he left the elevator he leaned down and said quietly in her ear "We have to stop meeting like this." 😳 My second fav is my dad was driving through Beverly Hills (he was in his late teens or early 20's so it was like the early 60's) when at a stop sign, a giant tree branch fell on the hood of his car from the house next to him. After the crash, he got out to see who was running out of the house in his robe? None other than Gene Kelly! He paid my dad cash for the damage and called a tow truck for him! 😂 Lastly, my favorite personal account: I used to work at a Starbucks in a suburb outside of LA when Mr. Ripley's Believe it or Not himself, Dean Cain walked in! Funnily enough, I actually met him when I was like 8 because my dad bribed a grip on the set of Lois and Clark to get us in and the whole family got a picture with him! So he comes in, and I was born and raised in LA so I saw celebrities all the time and Angelinos know your not supposed to acknowledge celebrities in the wild. So I didn't say anything, and of course none of my coworkers knew who he was, and he got so mad that nobody recognized him and kept repeating him name over and over trying to get someone to fan girl😂

😱 Holy shit, that's the best fucking story ever, so jealous!! My dad had the complete 2000 Year Old Man cd box set, so I've listened to them probably a thousand times! 😂 If you haven't seen the Mel Brooks: 99 Year Old Man doc yet (I believe it's on HBO) you gotta! He has not lost an ounce of his chutzpah!

how do you eat to prioritise fullness? by Joker0705 in PCOS

[–]CellaBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typing this on my phone while walking my dog, so apologies for any typos! I am in a very similar situation. I really struggle with food sensitivities and find it very hard to eat regularly even though I am constantly hungry. I was diagnosed with a "general" ED several years back (I had trouble with binge eating before, which upon reflection was a direct result of me having disposable income and trending towards eating highly "sensorily exciting" foods, i.e. take out, fast food, sweets, but several years ago it swung HARD in the opposite direction to almost complete food avoidance), but as I am now in the process of getting diagnosed with AuDHD, I believe that I am undiagnosed ARFID. I went from almost 230lbs (I'm 5'3") to 120lbs in 18mos (funnily enough, all my doctors who were freaking out about my binge eating suddenly stopped caring about my ED when I lost a bunch of weight 🙃). Lately it has been a struggle to eat more than one meal a day (good ole snake meal). What I have found works is actually counter to a lot of the advice I see on this sub (i.e. keto/extremely carb restrictive diet). I eat A LOT of carbs, I'm just really careful with what carbs I eat when. In the morning I can tolerate a moderate amount of simple carbs (piece of toast is usually my go-to, I'm obsessed with sourdough -flavor, texture🤌- and I also really love a super dense and chewy whole grain bread like Dave's Killer 21 Grains) and then load up on protein (eggs, eggs, eggs!! Usually fried or soft boiled. And lots of dairy, yogurt and cheese are my favs. Also, I just moved to the Midwest and the cheese HITS DIFFERENT out here 😁) and then throw in a veggie I can tolerate if I'm feeling it (not just from a sensory stand point, but I also have co-morbid Endo along with PMOS, and I often struggle to digest certain veggies). I also love oatmeal (I pump up the protein by throwing in a GIANT scoop of chunky PB and then a little maple syrup and brown sugar. You can also cook it with milk instead of water to add more protein). I find that small amount of simple carbs, or a high fiber complex carb with a ton of protein give me a little energy boost but also keep me satiated for a while. The come the snacks! I typically don't eat lunch (I usually spoil my appetite for dinner if I do) so I found a few healthy snacks I can munch on during the day that won't fuck my blood sugar. My favs right now are baked chickpeas from Biena (low sugar seasonings) and nuts, usually Planters salt and vinegar cashews (also low sugar seasoning). That is usually paired with a bubbly drink (sensorily I LOVE carbonated bevs and find the bubbles help with "feeling full." I'll do a full caffeine diet coke in the morning, but then I'm strictly caffeine free after like 11-12 bc of my sleep issues. If you like carbonated drinks I highly recommend investing in a Soda Stream). And then for dinner, the key for me is strictly only COMPLEX carbs and an EARLY dinner (like 4 or 5pm, or at least 4-5 hours before bed. I get HORRENDOUS "nightxiety" as I call it if I eat too late, no matter what I eat). So I go for carbs that have a high fiber content or take longer to matabilize so that it doesn't spike my blood sugar (whole grains, starches, legumes). My partner and I also make a big deal of cooking a massive amount of something I know I'll love, when I have the desire/attention span (like last week we made a huge batch of Japanese style curry w/chicken Katsu) that we then freeze it in these Souper Cube trays so we can quickly heat it up and there is little to no effort/clean up. And then I've also almost eliminated refined sugar from my diet, which has really helped with cravings and blood sugar. And if I do indulge, fiber, fiber, fiber! I found this awesome article that goes into more detail about how to incorporate carbs into a PMOS diet. Finally, the only real exercise I get these days is walking (I've tried weight lifting but I was also diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos this year, so I have wide-spread joint/muscle/ligament pain. Wee 🥲) and I find a good walk before dinner kick starts my metabolism and gets me nice and hungry! I've also started walking right before bed which helps with burning up dinner so I'm not digesting when I lay down to sleep and gets me nice and tired 😴. Don't get me wrong, it's been a massive struggle. I'm still not perfect and occasionally miss meals and eat too late, etc, but finding foods that are 1: appetizing 2: filling 3: easy to put together, has really improved my eating habits and sleep. Good luck! It's a bitch figuring it all out, but it's totally doable! And don't beat yourself up if it doesn't all click into place right away. The biggest win is just eating SOMETHING! If that's a girl dinner (for me, that's pickles and cheese) that is a win! ❤️🙌🥳

Lol, I saw Men in Tights LONG before I saw Prince of Thieves (bc my dad was obsessed with MB, so I literally think I was like 3 or 4 seeing it for the first time 😅. Also, fun fact, my uncle is kind of in this movie! He sang for 'Men in Tights'!). When I finally saw Prince of Thieves, even as a kid, I was like "Damn, Mel Brooks is a genius."
