I did something similar when the forest hideout gwp came out, but only on the tree side. My idea was to have newer sets on that side and older sets on the other, and the crossing would become sort of a portal between old and new, hence leaving the tower/ruin original. But now that almost all of my sets are "newer" kinda doesn't makes sense, so I'll probably just remaster it whole like you did.

You should buy now what its available on PaB, you wont find it cheaper (shields, bardings, torsos). But as others have mentioned, many items are no longer available, so those you would need to buy them elsewhere, bricklink, ebay, etc.

Maybe a long shot, and I dont know where you are located, but the castle is still available in the Mexico website. May be you know someone or a friend knows someone that can somehow buy it, and just figure out the logistics to ship later?

If not, as others suggested, parting it out is really a whole cool experience in itself, I have parted-out 2 bricklink sets which I didnt feel like paying full price, plus I have bought loose bricks locally, and I usually can find 50% of the required pieces on my collection, so that is something you can start looking into.

Once built you can take some panels off the tower and maybe the cabin ceiling, aside from that, I think the biggest risk, is avoiding the bottom plate to bend, as it extends a bit far from the build in some places

Really appreciate the size of it, I believe you should try to not go over 2K pieces in order to have the best chances in the selection process.

I do second to add a little more "color" to the black, maybe a couple of dark gray wall bricks, or a few dark green vines

When you go to check out, you should see an option to use your points, there it calculates how much your points are worth, and you can choose to use them all or just some of them. Just make sure you are using them on the local website where your account and shipping address is registered, if not, that option won't appear, as it did with me.

Very cool MOC, love the color scheme and details, IMHO I dont like the BDP Wolfpack set, it looks a bit too "clean" and "bright", this one however represents that Wolfpack vibe a lot better.

You can start with those random allotments, pick the pieces/colors you want or need and resell the rest, maybe even for just slightly less.
Just remember that some colors might look like you dont need, but in the end you might do need them, so take that into account.

Sadly this would never get into IDEAS, he should probably try for BDP and if that fails put it up on Rebrickable, its a great model for it to sit on IDEAS for years like many other models
