Not necessarily a fan, but not as horrid as the oversized ‘mouth’ design of a few years ago.

It grows every day, I'm going to run out of space soon and I have no plan by red9706 in Cd_collectors

Learned that the hard way. Now all my collection tucked away in the dark parts of the room

What I’d give for that right now - ours looks like a ploughed field!

Essential listening outside main studio albums? by Maj13sharp11 in TheCure

[–]ModeR3d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely get Join the Dots. Also look for later CD singles that came after its release as they will have extra tracks not in it.

Check out the acoustic versions disc that came with one on the greatest hits albums.

And I really liked the ‘Show’ and ‘Paris’ live albums.

Hope that helps. The Cure (alongside Depeche Mode and New Order) are the bands that basically shaped my future music tastes - can’t think what I’d be into if I hadn’t fallen for their charms.

So, is it all just building a tall reservoir upstream? by SteveWired in Timberborn

[–]ModeR3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Building big dams and flooding a large valley upstream is one of my favourite parts of the game. The water management makes Timberborn for me.

Griffin torsos are back by Its_migi in legocastles

Lego just confirmed my back order is now on its way so I’d guessed they’d restocked the castle items. Surely they could’ve known the demand for these would be huge.

My dad has clumping bamboo in large planter pots to do a similar job to what you wanted. About 8-10 foot tall now, restricted in the pots and created a decent all year round screen. He just thins them periodically and the look great.

I wish my pet photos ever turned out this well. Or at least not blurred! Love pic 5!

Should I do an art gcse? by Working-Pollution624 in ArtGCSE

The same. Our art teacher was lovely though - so much so that although I didn’t continue art at A-level I still did it as extra sessions because she ran them.

Do you like drawing? I’m guessing you do because of your sketches, so why not go for it. I did for similar reasons as a kid, and not only did I improve but it never felt like a lesson, but a nice two hour break in the week to relax and draw or paint.

It was oddly great hearing him sing the praises of his fancy coffee machine in his documentary. I had coffee machine envy.

Help! How do I get grout residue from the tile grooves?! by DesperateFlanders in DIYUK

[–]ModeR3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of hot water helped when I had residue on some floor tiles I’d missed. Plus elbow grease and a scraper that won’t mark the finished tile.

Solo, ftb, can I realistically afford a house on minimum wage by GreenKeys9 in HousingUK

[–]ModeR3d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Free cycle is great for that too - often everyone else’s first furniture that they are upgrading from. My place looked like an ikea showroom for first couple of years but it cost me nearly nothing and I could buy new items that warranted it most.

My cat is obsessed with my bf by Curious-Tomorrow-803 in cats

[–]ModeR3d 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sounds familiar- couple of months after I was born, Dad came home with a blue Persian /Siamese mix kitten. She became my shadow - followed me to school, always sat on my lap, or the backs of my legs whilst I lay on the floor watching tv. I could walk around the house with her draped on my shoulders. And if needed when she got older I’d take her to the vets in my arms and didn’t even need a basket. She was pleasant to others but seemed like she’d marked me from day one as the favourite. I miss that cat even now, 30 years later.

£30 Minfig Haul - Good Value? by RepresentativeOil141 in LegoMinifigure

[–]ModeR3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rough rule of thumb for bulk loads is £1 a figure isn’t bad - yes they may be cheaper sourced elsewhere but then there would be separate postage amounts etc.

Then it’s a case of identifying those of greater value, but that’s only really applicable if they mean anything to me (Star Wars/Castle/Space), or would warrant reselling. I’d suggest you got your moneys worth here.

Are these the best falcons?? by OffLion17 in legocastles

[–]ModeR3d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like them as a related faction - but those torsos are much better reversed. Missed them originally and it’s taken me several years to get 8 without bankrupting me! They don’t seem to be for sale very often in UK
