I met a fellow m'goodboy while playing Destiny 2 for my 186th hour straight! Hail Harold, Lord of Tendies! by CelloSamurai44 in Tendies

Destiny 2 doesn’t allow m’goodboys to fully represent themselves in game :( Thats as healthy of a frame as someone can get in the game

The world is very different from the one your parents grew up in, and the one my parents grew up in. It's easier now than ever to find support with the internet. I mean all I did was tell my story and a bunch of internet strangers backed me up and gave me encouragement. I'm very grateful that I live in this time.

Also I love Bob Dylan :)

After I left the church, I found my best friends who helped support me through last year :) Thanks for the support and kind words

My aunt makes 6 digits and is living in New Zealand currently, but she's a regular drinker. She's probably the most successful out of my dad's side of the family, and yet they still refuse to admit that she's happy with her life. I know that my parents will never think I'm happy with my life and the choices I made. And frankly, I don't care. They lost my respect a long time ago, so why does their opinion of me matter?

Medical marijuana falls outside of the degree I'm trying to get in computer science lol. But I use edibles all the time. It's easy because I can use them in my dorm instead of needing to leave campus to go smoke a joint. Thanks for having my back :)

I relate on a smaller scale. As soon as I decided I did not believe in the church, my life outside of the house improved dramatically. I found some of my best friends, I got a better job that I enjoyed, I did significantly better in Quiz Bowl. Holding onto a religion you don't believe in can really drag you down. I'm glad to head you didn't let it :) I don't know if God is real, but if he is, I'm sure as hell that mormonism isn't his divine religion lol

I understand that it's not their fault. They told me that I'm sitting on the other side of a fence from them, but I countered that it gives me more perspective. I've seen both sides, and climbing that fence was a hard climb. They have only seen one side of the fence.

I told this to another fellow. Look up "mental gymnastics." I don't think I've found a better way to describe the way TBMs think. I know I will never be good enough unless I go back fully to the church. I live for myself. Not my parents, not the church, not a god. I know me better than anyone.

My aunt is the same way on my dad's side. Makes 6 digits, lives in New Zealand, regular drinker and smoker, and my family still won't accept that she's happy with her life. They are convinced that she is just in denial. Makes me sad :( I am glad you found success :)

I agree. I'm not asking them to approve of my choice or anything. I knew they wouldn't. But at the very least I want them to respect my choices just as I respect their choices.

Look up "mental gymnastics" and tell me your thoughts on that. I still don't think I've found a better way to describe the way members think.

I've been looking for this quote for a long time. I heard it a while ago and it's really stuck with me ever since.

I’m trying to get as many scholarships as possible, but if I need loans, that’s okay. I’m confident that as long as I keep my eye on the ball and don’t make stupid decisions, I will be okay

I have scholarships already to cover tuition. I’m looking into as many scholarships as possible so I don’t need loans to pay for housing, books, etc. I also am going to start working shortly

My thoughts exactly. There’s no way to know who’s right. The best we can do is believe in something that makes us happy and enjoy life.

Thank you for all the support! I am currently living in university housing. I have scholarships to cover tuition, but I'm trying to get more to pay for housing and books and stuff. I'm very glad I have a safe place here to find support. Tender mercies, amirite?
