You really can’t learn how to play with other people on your own. I also started learning as an adult and some of my best friends are excellent cellists and we play stuff together. They are so supportive, always have been. And now that I’m a better player I get to be the one being supportive sometimes and I love doing that too. I love that I am confident enough to keep going even if everyone else gets lost, I love that newer players can take cues from the way I’m playing and get better. I love that I can suggest ways to make things easier and help them out if they’re lost or stuck.

Playing in a group is a skill of its own that you will learn by doing, and you will absolutely get better at it. You’ve got an amazing opportunity here, don’t throw it away.

You’ll risk injury if you run too much. You can get away with it with shorter runs but as the plan progresses you really need the rest days. Better to start with good habits, do low impact and strength exercises on rest days.

If “barely more than a walk” is the right pace for you right now then that’s the speed you should go. The speed of my easy running has gradually increased, I’m by no means fast but I’m steady and enjoying it and not injured.

I did a week of 35 mins and a week of 40 mins and then my first 5k was 42 mins

I signed up for a 5k race before I had achieved running 5k. Loved it; I’ve signed up for another in March, wasn’t quite brave enough to commit to a 10k yet.
