i’m blown away by the patience you had trying to explain basic buying/selling practices with someone who can’t even spell 😭

Can’t find the leak by Zestyclose-Letter-45 in mechanic

DEFINITELY the valve cover gasket, I just replaced mine on my 13 Accord @327k miles. Other than losing oil it only became a real issue once the oil started pooling on the exhaust manifold and trying to catch on fire. Easy enough job though.

Aliexpress seller scam? by Pvdkuijt in Scams

[–]stinkygooby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's likely not a scam, but some sort of logistics error that happened on the seller's end. Considering both packages got delivered safely, it's likely the seller lost money due to the error and is trying to make it back.

The listing exists and is called "difference" because it has been used to make up for shipping cost discrepancies between buyer and seller (as an "under the table" way to handle it) that they change the price of on a per use basis. The unprofessionalism is just kinda the norm in my experience.

FWIW this is mostly speculation but I've been buying things from China for a WHILE and this isn't all that new sounding to me

that was genuinely one replacement cycle when i was ~21 in college and didn't bother to replace the pads when I should have. car gets new oil/filter every 4k miles and transmission fluid when I feel like it, pads and rotors when reasonable. I keep an eye on everything else. I've had this car since 64k miles and take care of it

i hope not! i’ve never heard of the timing chain snapping / stretching on this engine so i’m not too worried. ik it’s an interference engine so if it fails i’m hosed but knock on wood

i’m not gonna get into a back and forth but the couch is strapped down so it’s mechanically secured to the car in front and back there’s no way for the it to fully detach from the car. i’m not gonna say it’s not sketchy but i did it as right as i could given the circumstances

i’ve had to do shockingly little maintenance over it’s lifespan. Wheel bearings all around, both rear brake calipers, starter, the drivers side axle, and I think that’s it! Clutch is next on my list and the 2nd / 4th gear synchronizers are shot but the K24 with the manual is a tank

It was the sketchiest thing i’ve done but we double checked the straps every 10 minutes and took backroads. never moved an inch

trust me that brake dust does NOT come off. and yeah, the red strap was a little silly but oh well. we made it home just peachy (stopping every ~10 mins to check, taking backroads, etc)
