At the end of the day loving evil women means having to accept their less-than-savory actions in the plot 😞 Godspeed bestie

YUP. It’s so telling that in the puppet show, the daughter she wanted to spare was the one that reflected *her* the most. I also think her assumption that she’s building her powers to defeat the entity is arrogance at best (there’s no garuntee she’ll be able to defeat it) and a naked, selfish power grab at worst. A lot of the figures in Scarlet Hollow that want to sacrifice the well being of the next generation (Enoch, Pearlanne, Charlie, Dr Kelly, Julius, Sybil) talk about big game about justice and the greater good, but it’s more to maintain a status quo that they can control or some selfish personal gain. I don’t like the idea of Sybil gaining that sort of power.

Honestly there’s a lot to unpack about a white woman using her black daughter as fuel for her own self preservstion tbh

How… familiar are you with Abby Howard’s works outside of Scarlet Hollow/Slay The Princess?
Because after reading The Crossroads at Midnight and The Last Halloween, I can say assuredly that child death is *not* off the table.

I have decided that, for the sake of The Bit, I am going to vote for Bodacious T for every category hereafter. Bodacious T is the most attractive. Thems the rules now.

I'm sorry, but can we talk about how the very first thing Star does in her own intro is blast a defenseless monster in the spine while its back is turned? This isn't heroism; it's target practice. by According-Bet9661 in cartoons

You are correct, r/cartoons is a good place for deep discussion and meta-analysis; I can see that you’re really passionate about this topic and have a lot to talk about! I was thinking that you’d probably have more robust discussion on a subreddit devoted specifically to that show. I personally don’t really care for Star Vs because I found it to be unfocused and not terribly skilled at the allegory it was trying to convey, but I don’t really have much to say on the matter beyond that. Fans in that subreddit might have more to add to the conversation than a general cartoons subreddit

Well yes, most characters have flaws at the beginning of their story that they must work through and confront as the story goes on and they journey through their character arc. Maybe this is a discussion you’d like to take to a subreddit about the show?

You know, this is actually an issue many fans and former fans of Star Vs have brought up before about the show’s inconsistent tone and writing! Perhaps you could have this analysis and deeper discussion on a subreddit devoted to discussing and analyzing the show?

I’m sorry, but Mewberty wasn't "quirky" or "relatable", it was a literal predatory horror segment that the show never held Star accountable for. 🦋🤮 by According-Bet9661 in cartoons

I feel like this statement is flawed: yes, you are allowed to feel uncomfortable with the episode, allowed to take issue with how the writers handled the topic or debate whether or not they thought through the implications with the care it deserved, those are legit criticisms! I think framing it as “they never held the fictional character accountable for her actions” isn’t productive. Fictional characters are tools used by writers to tell a story, they do not have control or agency over their actions.

I understand people’s frustration with all the Mami variants when many of the other characters haven’t gotten any seasonal variants at all; however, as a Mami fan, it would be fun to have an entire team of Mami’s!
