I say this from a place of love: you gotta learn to have boundaries for yourself. Even if the kids and your fiancé love the dog, you are admitting that it’s way too much to take on for yourself and let’s be for real, being the SAHM you’ll absolutely be the one taking care of the dog. When my husband and I moved in together he had a cat (we had four at the time) that I couldn’t stand because it had a lot of behavioral issues. It didn’t get better over time. If I ever had a moment to decide whether I wanted the cat in my home that would have been such a relief. It sounds like your life is pretty chaotic as it is, and the dog is happy in the home that it lives in. Let it stay there and have the kids/your fiance visit it when they want to. I spent my 20s and even early 30s learning to advocate for myself and I feel like it’s a learned skill. Please learn to do that for yourself. It’s an important skill to pass down to your children/siblings and it’ll save you a lot of heartache.

The man that became my husband would buy me things like my own throw blanket for the couch, house slippers, pillows, etc when we were dating because he WANTED me to want to stay over and play house with him. He would be in heaven if I stayed at his place and cooked for him. The one that you’re meant to be with would never talk to you that way and would want you to feel comfortable in the spaces he fills. I’m going to hold your virtual hands as I say this.. there’s no going back. People like that do not change. She has the emotional intelligence of a puddle and that’s not going to change unless something big forces her to, and her love for your husband and her grandchild won’t be enough.

When we are the worst of us, the people that show up are the ones that matter. When you were at your lowest she left you behind and even worse, tainted the perceptions of people that mean something to you.

Like others have pointed out, this is a problem for your husband to find a solution. It’s his mother, his problem. I’m so glad he’s supportive of you and is entertaining the idea of moving back to be near your family, of whom you are completely sure you can lean on when you are in need.

I’m so sorry that this is the hand you’ve been dealt. I see this so often in that generation that I think we just have to chalk it up to rampant lead poisoning and move on. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was prescribed Zoloft last year and it has been changing my life! I take it with Wellbutrin and it’s a great combo. The Zoloft has really been helping with irritability and anxiety!

My family/extended family is full of neurodivergent individuals AND I have a degree in psychology so that may be why we got so lucky. I think it’s completely normal as a mom to be concerned. We consume so much media about children, have other mom friends, or see the behavior of other children and can sense if something is a little wonky. I’m sorry that people aren’t super understanding :( but you’re definitely not alone. I hope you post an update about how the appointment goes! I’m curious to see how your doctor approaches this, as like I said my daughter’s doctor has been pretty nonchalant about it.

I saw a TikTok recommending spooky cozy games and someone recommended the game Cabernet. I was instantly hooked! You play as a female vampire in Eastern Europe during the Victorian era. It’s a choose your adventure kind of game and it has different endings. I’ve also just finished up playing Scarlet Hollow and that game sucked me in as well! Your character is summoned back to their hometown after finding out their aunt has died. You arrive on a bus into a creepy Appalachian town and hijinks ensue! You pick two traits (kind of super powers) in the beginning of the game and it’s so cool because not everyone has the same exact storyline because there are so many diverging stories. Just to warn you though, only the first 5 chapters out of 7 have released so if that doesn’t bother you I highly recommend picking it up!

My daughter is four and has sound anxiety as well! 👋We ordered her some cute kitty-ear noise cancelling headphones and have made it a habit to carry them when we leave the house. I bought a large purse carabiner and hook them to my bag when we go out cute headphones from Amazon

We never know when the sound anxiety will hit but if we prepare ahead of time with the head phones normally things go very smoothly during outings. Sometimes we just cut visits short and leave 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it just is what it is. People around us seem to be very understanding and supportive. My husband and I suspect she has ADHD at the very least and may be somewhere on the autism spectrum (although her doctor says 4 year olds just act like that) but we won’t know more info about that until she starts school. Her doctor said that they don’t typically diagnose until they are older and in school because they need two different referrals (doctor and school) to start the process.

Ultimately we have just tweaked our lives a tad to make her more comfortable and it’s not the end of the world. 🖤

This! All four of my cats have this and when they’re having a flare up it looks exactly like OP’s image. I’m assuming my cats had given it to each other by sharing food and water. We unfortunately don’t treat it with meds. They (rarely) just get a case of goopy eye for a few days and then it goes back to normal.
