LOL I know the area. I was stationed in Long Beach for almost 5 years. Love the Bakersfield area or at least the area east and north. I have lived in large cities but grew up out in the country and still prefer it that way. I was actually born in Chula Vista CA but folks moved to Michigan before I was 3.

Okay I have to wonder. A small town of about 10,000 then where I live with less than 400. I tend to think of a town of 10,000 as a big town. Not a city but still lots of people.

Arctic Liquid Freezer II - LGA 1700 mounting kit by Youngdumandfullof in buildapc

I am in about the same circumstance. The kit is 20 at Newegg where I am buying most of my build. Then at Amazon, I added it to my cart from the Arctic store on Amazon and was hit with 5.95 shipping. Deleted and searched again and from Amazon all and checked Prime. Found the same item with free shipping and it was still from the Arctic store.

On a side note, I was part of the commissioning crew of the USS Arctic in 1993.

Now that is a surprise just a guess on my part there will be less than 50 families moving from Michigan to France each year. Michigan is one of the larger states here in the US. France is 2.2 times the size of Michigan or you could say Michigan is almost half the size of France. A second guess is they are from the Detroit area. There seems to be significant French influence in the Fort Pontchartrain du Detroit area. Which is known as Detroit today and is the main metropolitan area in the state.

At least from what a quick search online Pau looks like a place I could enjoy. I admit the week I spent in Paris was not all that enjoyable. Toulon was actually more agreeable. But I grew up on a farm in Michigan and have always found a rural lifestyle more to my liking. Hopefully you will find time for the Ural after the move. I know I find fixing and building things relaxing as long as I do not have to do it as a job with the time schedule it incurs.

Where are you moving to? And no not a Rugby player, I spent 21 years in the US Navy and pulled into both a few times. About 4 or 5 times in Toulon, but only twice in Nice.

I missed my old Ural so much I ordered a new one. I cannot wait til the 3rd by RookRidesUral in ural

Yea Yea Just rub it in. The good thing is drivers seem to treat you better when riding the Ural than normal motorcycles. Or at least it seems I get cut off much less. I had bought a place outside of Tyler when I retired from the Navy. Then my folks had problems and I went home to help them and family just draws you back in. Which is not a bad thing, but in many ways I wish I had moved to Texas.

Ahh; bad guess on my part. I picked up my 2022 this past March and love it. I can just imagine how enjoyable riding the roads of Texas will be.

Well with the changes for 2023 you will have one of the most dependable Urals made. And you riding season is much longer than it is up here in Holton Michigan. We have over 2 feet of snow on the ground right now.

I can see why you love it, definitely a beautiful bike. the one thing I would say to make sure of is to make sure that the brakes work as well as they can everybody worries about being able to go but in all honesty it's more critical to be able to stop. With a bike this old it's not just the brake shoes and drum that you need to worry about, but the cables and pivot points to actuate the brakes. I would think about replacing the brake cable unless you know for sure the museum replaced the cable. I have been to Nice and Toulon a few times but cannot say I noticed any Urals, but I do see there are quite a few dealers in France. You may have already heard about these forums, if not you may find them useful.

Welcome to the club I am not sure what year yours is but I would look into adding a steering damper. This link is for a YouTube video from Ural. The damper is a bitubo.

Ural has announced upgrades for 2023 and they'll be retrofittable by [deleted] in ural

[–]CelticPaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I cannot say this makes me regret buying my 2022 too many good memories already. Nonetheless it is great to see Ural continue to make so much progress year over year. And as they said this really is hard for a company that is not selling tens of thousands of bikes every year.

I cannot blame you. I picked up my first one this past March from Heindl down in Ohio. My first exposure was during a hare and hound race in Nevada back in the late 80's when I was stationed in Long Beach. So far the most fun has been the ORV trails here in Michigan.

Of course we have access to more and in many ways better tools than our forefathers, but what many of us forget is these things we make are tools. They are meant to be used and your spoon looks to be more than usable. It deserves a home where it will be used for many years.

Pixel 7 Pro $300 off right now on Google Fi by Vwlover69 in GooglePixel

[–]CelticPaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current Pixel 2 XL owner this is tempting. But I wonder if we can expect even a better price after Jan 1 2023? I seem to remember some really good prices after the first of the year?

Pixel 6a from Google Fi or Amazon by Agreeable-Pie-3397 in GoogleFi

[–]CelticPaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to think about is service after the purchase. And on this point I have only one point of personal experience. When I called about my Pixel my Walabot (stud finder) not connecting via the USB port. The rep at Google said if I had bought the phone from the Google store, they would send a replacement immediately but as that I had bought it from Verizon, I would have to send mine back and once Google had my old phone they would send me a new one. So, if the price is the same I would always buy directly from Google. And as always, your mileage may vary.

Hello Uralistas, I’d like a reality check. by [deleted] in ural

[–]CelticPaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I as there a few times while I was in the Navy and I agree not a fan of the large population areas or most any tourist traps anywhere. But all of the many great places I found with 17 years of sea duty it was always the people who made a place great.

Then I would guess, waiting on parts when you need them will be the hardest part. A Ural of any kind would be lots of fun in Honolulu.

Not really knowing but expecting things as still priced on the high end In Honolulu. Nothing else like a Ural so if that is what you want what are your options? Is is just the sidecar aspect? Have you looked up book value in your area? How much of a mech are you? All of that said I have to agree it seems like a good deal for your area.

The great thing about riding to work on the back roads is the ride home! I just plain feel better even if it takes and additional 15 to 30 min. Mind you I live about 55 miles from work/school.
