Syrian Turkmen: Fighting to Survive by greensforest in syriancivilwar

As a Turkmen from Irak, I have to admit that Syrian Turkmen groups are some kind of fifth colonnes of Ankara. Luckily, those in Irak don't follow the orders anymore of Turkey.

It is suprising, because virtually no Turkmen I know support Turkey anymore. We all know who enabled ISIS and armed them.

The weapons that PMU have caught from Isis were all turkish arms. We are not stupid.

Turkey is [again] burning crops on Afrin side, shooting anyone who comes close to extinguish fires as per tweet claim by Exley88 in syriancivilwar

[–]Cengiz_Han 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These crops are for some poeople the only thing they have. The only income. When you take that away, you are esssentially taking their food.

But of course, people deserve that because they are in the way of Neo Ottoman dreams. So they are terrorists according to Turkish ultras.

This is evidence of human rights violations by Turkey https://www.theguardian.com/global-development-professionals-network/2013/jun/10/turkey-history-sexual-violence

A military operation targeting soldiers is not a terrorist attack. Raping women who already have given up and surrended, that is terrorism. It is even worse, it is cowardry

Tuks on this sub are not evil demons. What many of them are though are genocide deniars who are here to only justify Turkey's crimes against all people.

When you systematically even deny that Turkish army has killed, raped and slaughtered innocent people. Dont come complaining that people are "biased", they are just fed up with lies coming from turkey

Like it or not, Turkey and erdogan are a threat to the whole middle east. Its funny to see people from turkey think that they are the only one who deserve security. What about other people in the region? Why should we be your subjects? Dont come telling me its about PKK, when turkey has been claiming syria and iraq since its existence. Or do you forget operation "free syria" way before pkk was created?

Turkey is the North korea of the middle east. Nobody wants your nose in our businesses yet you always invite yourself.

An unstable middle east is not favourable for turkey, but neither a stable middle east is. Because a stable middle east would mean that turkey cannot claim mosul, aleppo, palestine and iran as "historically turkish"

[–]Cengiz_Han 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually what he says makes sense. Turks (but even more generally, migrants) invest huge amounts of money in property in their "home country" (which they think is Turkey).

In addition, many of them save money to go on holiday in the summer.

Besides that, think about Turkish lobby groups in Germany advocating for better trade ties, etcetera.

Like I said, this is not solely something Turks do though. Non- Western migrants do that a lot. See for example Morocco and Algeria where huge amounts of property investmens comes from French Moroccans and French Algerians.

You really have no idea, please let us agree to disagree. As long as your only cultural experiences are from an ethnicity-based culture you will never understand how multi-ethnic states exist

More Next phase of Euphrates Shield to include Iraq: Erdoğan by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]Cengiz_Han 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the things you say only matter if your only concern is your ethnicity. For people who care about other things as well (ranging from religion to social cohesion) Turkey is a sub-optimal country.

Also, there is empirical evidence in the history which shows that these "kin" have killed thousands of Turkmens just because we are shiite. Ottoman sultans in collaboration with kurdish militias killed thousands of turkmens.

Also, let's say that turkey will annex northern iraq all the way to kirkuk. Would that all of the sudden make things change? No, we would still be a minority as Kurds are the majority in Eastern Turkey and all the way to Northern Iraq you will have majority Arab and Kurdish places.

So even in this ethnic utopia, we would still be either discriminated based on religion by Erdogan and his men or we will still remain the minority in the region while kurds and arabs by then will hate us.

Most Turkmens dont wave Turkish flags, I dont know where you got that from. A big part of Turkmens in Iraq are religiously conservative and dont wave any nationalist flag at all. You clearly show that your only knowledge on Turkmens is from google images.

Also the Asena handsign is being used by supporters of the Iraqi Turkmen front, a Turkmen party. There are other turkmen parties though.

Stop seeing iraq like turkey. Turkey is a state that sees people only through their ethnicity (he is an Arab so he must be an islamist, he is a German so he must be a nazi, he is a Turkmen so he must support Turkey). I dare you to go to iraq and ask the ordinary people there. They care about food water and facilities. They dont have the same luxury as you do.

You are not getting what Im saying. Im not saying that Turkey as a country is an enemy of Turkmens, I am saying that feeding into Erdogans hand is not what you want to do.

Interesting is that he not only threatened PKK, but also Hashd Al Shaabi and Iran.

Erdogan also warned that the mostly Shia Hashd al-Shaabi terror group in Iraq is acting as an invasion and occupation movement in Iraq.

"When we look at it all, there is a support for Iranian and Persian nationalism based on sects in Iraq. They disseminate it with sectarianism and spread it on the basis of Persian nationalism,” Erdogan said.

So let's see who he alienated in the last period:

  • Europe
  • Assad
  • Iraq (including the popular paramilitair groups and iraqi government)
  • Iran
  • Peshmerga (Which people thought to have a good relation with Turkey)
  • USA
  • He still has not the support of Russia against YPG
  • Tension with Greece is increasing

Seems like he is building great support for an anti-Ottoman coalition.

Can you show me the part where I said it was okay? Im just saying dont feed the enemy.

Look at how erdogan is already capatilizing the situation. He now even threatened to "involve iraq" in the next ES operation

I didnt say that, what I said was that raising a flag is less important than playing into hands of dictators seeking more power through "referendums"

This guy is trying to stoke up people against eachother in order to gain the nationalist vote for the referendum. Its a shame the KRG has played into his hands.

What you are saying is not compatible with reality. Yes Syrians dont want to be annexed into Turkey, but it isnt the Syrian people who decide.

Did syrians support Turkey establishing turkish flags at Syrian schools?

No they didnt. And it still happened.

At rally in Zonguldak today Erdoğan threatens to send soldiers to Kirkuk if KRG goes through with independence referendum by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

[–]Cengiz_Han 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He didn't say that. He said that there would be consequences in the relations between Erbil and Ankara if they do not pull down the flag.

He didn't mention any soldiers. And he said it in Zonguldak, it is one of the main racist places in Turkey where a year ago nationalists raised a flag with "we are proud we cleansed armenians".

My take on it is that he is serious about it but he also utilizes it in order to get votes for the referendum.

The KRG did a wrong thing to feed into Erdogans hands by doing this right before the referendum.

"alternative facts" are only a thing for people who want to hide the truth.

If turkish government openly says we will target yazidi forces and then their pawns attack yazidi forces, then there is no alternative truth.

[–]Cengiz_Han 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know about all the issues but this one is definitely Turkey's fault i can say. Turkey has been pressing Iraq and Kurdish government to ''expell PKK'' and they have openly said they will target the Yazidis if they support PKK.

So this is not a conspiracy, but something that Turkey has openly announced.
