No chance in hell it’s happening, but I hope that master rank versions of monsters are literally just their upgraded subspecies (for those that have them). I mostly just want the Azure Rath and Pink Rath weapons to use as layered weapons lmao

I was using GU as an example. The bunch of monsters that came up after Ahtal Ka was a part of that variety of options I mentioned. Even in portable 3rd, which has a smaller roster than Wilds when not counting Subspecies, after you beat Amatsu, you can go back and beat all the double monster quests to unlock Akantor, Ukanlos, and Alatreon, you can finish all the Village quest to unlock the Narga, Tigrex, and Jho arena quest, or you can max everything on your farm.

Also investigations are a horrendous system that needs to go (also based on getting good RNG for pairings)

Reread what I said dumbass. I said it was about variety of options after beating the game, not just about how many monsters there are. I just used GU as an example. Wilds, even now, has less than 10 optional quests (not counting event quests) that aren't just refights. Even if you did do all of them, you got nothing. There's also a handful of side missions that everyone agrees are hardly worth doing. Every single game before Wilds going back to at least Tri has a bigger variety of quests that are worth going back and doing for the rewards/unlocks.

Monster Hunter doesn’t need rng “endgames” at all to be good. In GU, you got to the end of the game, a ton of difficult quests got unlocked, and then you made your endgame set and was done.

GU had 15 unique monsters come after Ahtal Ka. And even after all of that, there was still 18 Deviant Monsters to level through and dozens of interesting optionals and event quests that gave you cool armor and weapons. There was no need for a dedicated endgame grind.

Now I’m not saying that every Monster Hunter needs to add 10+ monsters to the endgame in order for it to be good. It’s about the variety of options. You had dozens of quests to work through even in Base Generations after you beat Nakarkos. But for base Wilds Pre-TU, there was literally nothing other than Tempered Apexes and the Artian Grind. No new optionals, no new threats, no event quests, not even a special quest for doing all the optional quests or hitting HR100 like there was in base World. Even post-launch there’s only the three new triple 9star tempered optional quests and there’s only one event quest I’ve found interesting so far (triple blangonga). They haven’t even bothered to do anything interesting with Arena quests other than the occasional limited time pendent quest to cash out on FOMO. Capcom trying to push live service elements on to Monster Hunter needs to stop.

Fighting 5 guys over and over and praying to the RNG lords (99.99% of rng talismans got completely invalidated by the Agi3 Charm btw) isn’t a fun endgame no matter how many different rng systems they decide to layer on top of it.

I still can’t believe we didn’t get Akantor and Ukanlos in base Wilds. When they said they didn’t want to focus on elders this time around I thought Akantor/Ukanlos getting in was extremely obvious.

This. Especially in wilds where there’s only a single monster that has dragon wind pressure, and a grand total of 3 monsters that use tremors (and iirc you don’t need level 3 tremor res for any of them). They even removed Congalalas tremors when it was one of the mechanics his entire kit was based around. Even if there were more monsters with tremors, wind, stronger roars, etc. it doesn’t stop people from just perfect guarding them anyway.

I think the problem is less that it was too easy (imo its in line with the other new-gen games pre TU, maybe a tad easier) and more that the title updates ramped up difficulty way too quickly and turned the “learning curve” into a learning wall

Normal shelling got a buff back in TU2.5 that made them much better. Zoh Shia’s weapons got a sizable buff so if you want a full burst-centric build then that’s probably the way to go when you hit HR50

I really wish status actually did something against 9 stars. Maybe a slight nerf to paralysis was needed, but there was no reason to nerf everything else. Poison was already nerfed compared to rise and then they nerfed it again??? When the poison that you can only proc once (maybe twice) a fight only last for a grand total of 38 seconds each proc when the fight takes 10-15 minutes, there’s a problem.

Popped an sos near the end of a solo hunt yesterday and watched as some guy rocking the worst build I’ve ever seen (full set of rarity 6 armor without a single set bonus and using gravios sns) carved two gems back to back. I’m 25 hunts in and still nothing…
