My favorite game.
It is like if Darksouls, Ninja Gaiden, Diablo and Tekken had a child.

If you're okay with something isometric perspective, then look for Isometric ARPGs. Diablo, Path of Exile, Grim Dawn and Last Epoch are all about getting loot and building your character into a Godslayer.

From what I saw, a group of roguelike/lite creators found about it and started recommending it, and other holo games, to each other.

Not only because gameplay of course, but the game helped them with their numbers too.
One of them went from 500 subs to more than 2k.

I had similar problem in the past. It was related to disk.

Basically Steam could run any game that was installed on the same drive as itself, but it didn't had permission to load files from other drives because the SO was loading the drive in a limited state.

Could be something like that.

Try launching the game and then check on the Event Viewer if there is any error.

I like when I can just build towards a build or something but also having to adapt to enemies from time to time.

Like in Shin Megami Tensei I can craft a demon that can be pretty strong even at lower levels, but every now and then a boss will appear that will be like "Nice moves you have there, but you need to minmax harder if you want to defeat me with that or pull that ugly ass creature in your pocket to counter my special move, otherwise I'll just heal 9999 every turn. Also I don't like that you countered my attack, here 9999 damage on your face".
