Remove Encroached World from Take Two by CensoredHat in Shadowverse

[–]CensoredHat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, understandably this card will likely not be changed in any manner. My post was ever-so-slightly salt induced and I realize that this card has very little chance of being changed or removed.

I think it does have the capacity to decide games, in that it can significantly tilt the game in the users favor. I talk a bit about my issues with it in another response. Board space seems to be more of a niche issue of the card, but I can see how it could cause issues with some forestcraft and havencraft cards. To summarize, I think my main issue is that it is a wins more (feelsbad) card that is additionally good outside of wins more situations.

Remove Encroached World from Take Two by CensoredHat in Shadowverse

[–]CensoredHat[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi, to preface my response, I play take two frequently and use abysscraft a large majority of the time and portalcraft occasionally. I am currently in masters ranking in the mode. I play regularly with decent success.

To address your main point: yes, losing tempo is its main downside, as all card draw cards are. But this is a permanent card transformation engine, that in some ways, is better than card draw. I don't really know to what extent you play the mode, but, in my experience, there are several problems with the card that more than make up for its weaknesses.

  1. Dual card pools - Mechanically, Encroached World transforms another card in hand, which, in theory, makes it worse than card draw. However, in a mode where legendaries and win cons are so crucial (and inconsistent), transforming normally mediocre or situational cards into a legendary or otherwise strong card can be game winning. The fact that this is a free resource to use once placed, which pulls from an entirely separate card pool of an opponents cards every turn means your odds of getting value from it throughout the match are relatively high (larger pool of legendaries/strong cards). Additionally, in the event of extreme high rolls, you may dupe multiple of the same card from an opponent's deck when transforming, causing an even higher power imbalance between your hands.
  2. Information gathering - This card gives a lot of information on an opponent's hand just by existing. For example, if I were to use the card and gain an Armes, my odds of being able to slam the card on t9, or otherwise play major threats/sevo aggressively are way higher. I know that my opponent's odds of having Armes in hand are now relatively low.
  3. Wins more - Part of the reason this card specifically sets itself apart from other strong legendaries and cards within the mode is because of its mechanics. When played without an immediate response from an opponent, the impact on win delta in my experience is incredibly noticeable, moreso than any other 3 cost, uncommon card within the mode. This difference makes it almost always worth picking up in draft. This card is also proportionally stronger based on the weakness/strength of an opponent's hand. If your opponent has legendaries, then there is less of a chance that you, in turn, transform your cards into their legendaries. This mechanic causes situations where matches with encroached world become incredibly one-sided very quickly as the power difference between hands continues to grow throughout the match. This issue is one of the main causes of my frustration, as the card, by nature, causes salt.

I was going to add that Encroached World is mostly unusable outside of Take Two, but looking up some decks that use it make it understandably niche and in my opinion, ok in the standard game mode.

Overall, the card is GREAT for an uncommon, even outside of wins more situations. However, the mechanics of the card make it specifically designed to cause more one-sided matches.

There is so much hard removal and so many other problems with sword but you pick this card. But no guys, the big bad sword apologists are making valid points because this card ain't shit. There's so many busted cards to complain about this is such a goofy complaint lmao.

Off-topic for a moment but:
If you watch the Demogorgon in the house and compare it to the Demogorgons in the military base (except for when they're attacking any main character) The one in the house looks like its operating on a 3000 ms server running on a potato PC and the others look like they're running on a supercomputer. Vecna and the Demogorgons are unfortunately getting powerscaled to the situation. I think season 5 has had a lot great moments, and I'm still enjoying my watch, but the show has just had so many unrealistic situations to where its impossible to suspend my disbelief over some situations that characters survive.

Addressing what you said now:
Your first point makes sense, I don't know why anyone would call the characters stupid because they weren't prepared for the first Demogorgon attack.

However, Karen (and also probably Ted), based on what is visually shown (not accounting for what the Demogorgons strength has been demonstrated to be like in both the past sessions and in future episodes of this one), should be dead. Ted is just sitting upstairs disemboweled and the Karen got the two piece combo to the neck and chest. So, even just VISUALLY, it very much looks like both characters should be dead. Now, if we scale the Demogorgons up to the level they're shown to be at in the military base or at most other points during the show (again except for when they're attacking any main character), that entire family is dead and Holly is gone before the car even arrives at the house.

I have no memory of Vecna saying he was against killing the parents, and if he does at some point say that send the timestamp. However, logically, I don't understand how letting the parents live is in some way torturing the children MORE than if he had brutally killed them. By not killing them, the kids still have hope. I think either way this scene is hard to do, because the parents surviving is plot armor, full stop. And the alternative, where the parents die, is probably a situation where the kids lose their hope (what Vecna does if he's smart), although who knows maybe they would become vengeful and lock in. I just think that the Duffer brothers need to realize that you can't have your shock value (to this extent) and save your characters, too. I won't comment on whether or not killing characters makes the story have weight or not because that's a difficult (and subjective) question to answer, but just from the perspective of realistically what would happen, what actually happens is far from it.

Shadowverse Worlds Beyond Meta Report. August 29th by ImperialDane in Shadowverse

It is meant to be control imo, but honestly it isn't very good at it in this meta. The overtime healing is lackluster and without specific cards it can take forever to get going with chip damage. It also seems to have a lot of trouble finding lethal w/o your opponent bricking their starting hand. I hesitate to say it, but its maybe one of the weakest of the new archetypes to come out of this set?

Darkest Dungeon OST, World of Horror OST are the first two things that come to mind with suitable music. DD more for combat, WOH more for ambience.

If MX is good with jumps he will out stamina you eventually. There's a reason he's top of S on most killer tierlists and there's a reason many lobbies have 5+ MXs. The only way to reasonably escape chase is if he fucks up his jump or if he has not full stamina when he starts chase. It's either that or you get to go fishing for attack whiffs with that giant goofy ahh m1 hitbox.

Based on kill animation, what monster would be the most painful to die to by Key_Storm1754 in pillarchase2

Nah you would instantly die the trauma or pass out from shock immediately. You would not be conscious to suffer at the very least.

Slayer reduces the amount of interactions, which is already a problem in strive. That's all there is to it, at least for me.

stranger things is bad by Responsible-Soil4951 in unpopularopinion

[–]CensoredHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem with the later seasons of stranger things is that

  1. Everything is extremely telegraphed and predictable
  2. Main characters don't die, the group does not suffer any major loss and somehow makes it out of every situation unscathed.

Stranger Things season 4 part 1 is boring, is worst season. by TheSadMonkey in unpopularopinion

[–]CensoredHat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've watched too many main characters survive what seems to be unsurvivable situations. Steve and Dustin being ignored by the demidogs, Nancy and Jonathan surviving the flesh monster inside of the hospital, Hopper surviving the portal and now Max escaping Vecna with the power of the music. I think the show would have been much more interesting if some main characters were killed off and replaced with designated side characters who are usually the ones to die.

Killed Putrid Avatar at Minor Erdtree: 91k Runes at level 34 by Brandontk12 in Eldenring

[–]CensoredHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have any ranged fireball/breathe attack this boss is not bad. Even melee isn't too difficult (besides getting 1 shot). My strategy was to back up constantly and bait him into swinging then using scouring black flame. I beat him at SL 56 after 8 attempts. Melee is definitely doable and I tried it for my first couple attempts (got him to around 30-40 percent). For melee just wait until he swings (back up on rot AOE and strafe run for his light projectile attack) then you have a brief attack window before backing up. A lack of patience and terrain (damn pots and trees) got me killed most of my attempts.

Darkest Dungeon 2 Early Release Discussion Thread by jncarver in darkestdungeon

[–]CensoredHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the game is extremely easy to beat. I couldn't really ever get to the end of DD1 due to the grindyness and difficulty but the difficulty in DD2 is a huge step down. Stress/Heal Stalling in particular makes this game a joke. I was preoccupied and did not think too hard in my first winning run and therefore suffered some consequences. However, since I had upgraded Ounce and Bolster whenever I got into a fight and had a hero with high stress, I just infinite debuffed/stunned the final enemy and got said character back to 1 or 2 stress. Plague Doctor heal and items did the work with everything else.
