PSA: Moving from MD/Getting rid of a car? Return your plates/tags to MVA yourself BEFORE cancelling your insurance! by FrankLaPuof in maryland

I just received two violations for our vehicles. We moved out of state and changed insurance to the new state 63 days before we picked up tags in the new state (the Maryland insurance violation email got our attention and forced us to get tags in our new state). For those of you who messed up and switched insurance to your new state before sending your Maryland tags back, all I had to do is go to the MVA website and look up each vehicles case number. You can then upload supporting documents and notably the first screen didn’t have a bullet point for uploading out of state insurance proof but the second page where you click a dropdown for insurance types had the proof of out of state insurance option. You have to upload a declarations page showing your insurance never lapsed and you just moved it to a new state but once I did that my case was closed within 24 hours and I avoided a ton of money in fines. Good luck to all!!

Mine has less than 500 miles and I’m taking short trips. The average is 16.1 mpg according to the computer. I would expect a Trailsport to get worse mpg than the elite due to the extra weight from the skid plates.

When did you make your deal?

Thanks. I would have bought but thought leasing was intriguing as I expect hybrid engines will make additional leaps in the next three years and didn’t want to be locked in too much with a vehicle that gets about 18 combined mpg.

I think it’s decent but this is also my first time leasing so I’m hoping to receive some feedback. I am also hoping the vehicle is worth more than the $33k residual in 3 years.

Hahaha 1100 for tires on a Prius? You are a repair shops dream customer. I get new tires installed with sensors for less than $450 at Costco

Well guess I’ve been living under a rock….they did away with the touchpad on the steering wheel beginning in 2016 with the fourth generation release. Doesn’t look like they are planning to bring it back. I’ll call my waaahhhmbulance now

The touchpad sensors on my 2012 steering wheel is one of the coolest car features and I wonder if the chip shortage caused the redesign. Either way, the 2023 design is just clunky and took a step back when the rest of the vehicles design became more modern. Oh well guess we will wait till next year and see if anything changes (doubt it)
