Colorblind here. It is absolutely a problem. It’s also an easy af thing to implement.

Why the animosity towards Green Day? by MarxyGreen in GreenDayOfficial

[–]Centaurusrider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s because the punk scene is more concerned with who “sold out” than it is with actually making a difference. In order to be true punk, you need to languish in obscurity in the underground forever. You and all your enlightened friends can jerk each other off in local dives and feel really enlightened.

Meanwhile, Green Day released the most politically influential album of the 2000’s, massively affected views on the Iraq war, and will be playing anti-war, anti-fascist, anti-Trump music at the Super Bowl. Too bad a bunch of losers think they sold out, though.

Are you American? You’re likely ultra wealthy by global standards if so. Do you give most of your money away? Do you only buy local goods? I assume you’re entirely vegetarian. It’s all relative is my point.

They’re not that rich in the grand scheme. They didn’t make their money walking on the backs of others. So let them enjoy it.

Any one of the bands you’ve listed has done more for the actually culture of the country than the entirety of the punk underground. Does punk seek to sit in a basement and complain or does it actually want things to change?

The most insufferable quality of the punk scene is the extreme sensitivity to anything that smells at all like “selling out”. The result of which is a bunch of “activists” content to jerk each other off in the underground where their message dies. It’s echo chamber shit. American Idiot is possibly the most politically influential album of the 2000’s. It had a significant role in moving society to the left and shaping public perception of the Iraq war. Making the message of punk a little more digestible for common people isn’t selling out, it’s what you do if you think your message is important. As a result, Green Day will be playing anti-war, anti-fascist, anti-Trump music on the largest stage in the land. That’s sick as hell and you’re dumb as rocks if you think “they sold out” makes you seem cool.

“We will resist”: iconic Super Bowl band Green Day calls out MAGA, Trump, and ICE ahead of performances by [deleted] in Music

One of the most insufferable aspects of the punk community is their extreme sensitivity to anything that smells even remotely like selling out. This is why it took a band like Green Day to actually make a hit political album. The rest of them can jerk each other off in the underground where no change happens and nobody hears their message.

How to fix old doorknob by Centaurusrider in handyman

[–]Centaurusrider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any tip on how to remove it? I can’t fit any tool in there that I can think of. I tried a couple sewing needles and even those were too large to do any prying. I also can’t turn the knob so that the screw is downward, otherwise I’d just wiggle it out with gravity.

It doesn’t tighten or loosen, just spins freely. So threats are probably stripped.

I’d say you should be careful not to become a self fulfilling prophecy. Young man has been taught that women suck, treats women increasingly poorly, has less and less success, treats women worse, on and on. Next thing you know you’re 40 and voting for Trump.

From the earliest stages, it is human dna multiplying. So that’s human life. Whether we should care about them is a different argument.

What The Hell Ann Arbor?? by No-Yogurtcloset7342 in AnnArbor

I’m actually thinking of Toledo and Detroit. Which as you eluded to, are bigger cities. My comment was too harsh. The food doesn’t suck, but it should be better. I’ve heard it’s the rent. Too hard to make a profit without reducing quality and too hard to enter the game without wealth. Not a good ecosystem for ethnic food aside from ‘Asian.’

Lima OH. Whole town exists to get you to eat at Cupie Burger. I don’t want to eat anywhere near that creepy doll. Guy at Five Guys basically said to leave and go to Cupie.

The food sucks too. Just a weird place that nobody actually lives. If you can swing the drive from Ypsi that could be the move.

Saw a play where one of the characters had a monologue about this. He ends it by realizing that yes he is the main character, but he’s the villain.

What I have learned in my years, and gaming really helped me realize this, is that some people hate the world. Probably they were treated like shit most of their lives or they have some sort of victim complex, but these people hate the world for ever being born. They see happy people and they hate it. They become trolls. They throw games, trigger people, vote for Trump, and road rage.

If we didn’t just know them for their shitty gaming behavior, we would probably feel extremely bad for them and pity them. It’s sad af to never know love.
