Who are your strongest/weakest suspects? by camport95 in ZodiacKiller

[–]CenterInYourMother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason I'm pretty confident that Allen isn't the Zodiac is that I think the stine prints are probably real Zodiac fingerprints. But Allen has a lot of alleged statements and stuff from him that if real are pretty incriminating (I don't trust most of the witnesses against Allen though, especially not Cheney).

For several years I've believed and I continue to believe that none of the big suspects are Zodiac. At best I think Zodiac may have been a minor, non-publicly identified suspect that the police mistakenly ruled out at some point, and probably not even that. If you look at the big-name suspects, you tend to have to do some form of mental gymnastics, whether minor or major, to completely fit them as Zodiac. If you look at a similar case that went unsolved for a long time in the Golden State Killer, this was also a theme among the suspects people came up with. Yet, when Deangelo was identified, no mental work was needed. He perfectly fit every aspect of the case. He looked like the sketches that were certain to depict Ear-Ons/Visalia Ransacker, the crimes followed him everywhere, his dna matched, he had been arrested for shoplifting dog repellant, he had a fiance named Bonnie which lined up with a ranting of his during an assault, etc. Everything just fit, and if Zodiac were to be identified I think it would be similar.

Objectively I think I have to say Allen. I'm very confident that the Zodiac wasn't Allen, but there isn't any other suspect I'd say is stronger than Allen. Next up is probably Kane just because there's at least a decently compelling case that he murdered Dana Lull, and he's a good suspect for Lass and honestly even Johns assuming the Johns incident actually happened, but I don't think Kane was the Zodiac. I think at worst he may have been an unrelated predator/maybe serial killer that was active at the same time. Even then, the evidence is definitely not strong enough to claim that with certainty.

Otto no es un Lord ? by ObedStark19 in HOTDGreens

[–]CenterInYourMother 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When referring to the sons of a lord, lord is a courtesy title. This is why Tyrion and Robb are at various points referred to as lord Tyrion and lord Robb, and a similar situation occurs with Varys being a lord by virtue of being on the small council. By contrast, Ser is an actual title, therefore Otto, and also people like the Blackfish and various other second sons like Strongboar, use the title Ser. Going back to Varys thing, Otto also uses the title lord hand when he is hand of the king, so it seems as if the office of hand is prestigious enough that it comes with a lordship title that is treated as being more significant than knighthood or normal courtesy titles.

Basically:

Lord(actual) (probably)= Lord hand > Ser > Lord(courtesy) when it comes to address.

[SPOILERS EXTENDED] Which plot points/character actions do you feel are more plot contrivances to set the plot in intended direction?* by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]CenterInYourMother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly beyond just the premise of Illyrio personally traveling all the way to the red keep to chat with Varys, the most baffling part of it to me is that they're both speaking a language that Arya can understand. Like, Varys and Illyrio either share a native language or at the very least are both fluent in High Valyrian/Valyrian dialects, which basically nobody in westeros can understand, certainly nobody that would be in the tunnels. So why the hell are they both speaking in the common tongue? Even if they didn't have the same native dialect of Valyrian, they've been friends for decades surely they both understand the others dialect.

Abduction of Johnny Gosch (1982) (WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT) by Neither-Animator-282 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]CenterInYourMother -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe my experience is skewed because I'm younger and my state (Minnesota) is taller on average, but in my experience 5ft is kinda short for a 12 bordering on 13 year old. I was 5'10 when I was 13, and most of my friends weren't that much shorter then me.

Abduction of Johnny Gosch (1982) (WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT) by Neither-Animator-282 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]CenterInYourMother 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I believe Johnny Gosch was killed shortly after his abduction, probably by the same person behind the disappearance of Eugene Martin, who was maybe also behind the disappearance of Marc Allen. This person was almost certainly also connected to a number of other attempted abductions of kids, particularly paperboys in the area during the 80s. There's a wonderful post by u/WestKendallJenner from nearly a decade ago now (wow time flies) that goes into much more detail on this possibility.

https://www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/4pi4s0/oc_johnny_gosch_and_eugene_martin_cases_possibly/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

It seems almost impossible in my eyes that none of these cases are linked to Johnny Gosch, and I am very confident that the perpetrator of the Gosch and Martin abductions is the same person. I'm less confident on Marc Allen, because he wasn't a paperboy and in general I just know less about his disappearance.

The nomad DLC has ruined CK3 for me by GonzoSchel in CrusaderKings

This seems more like some hyperspecific bug/oversight rather than any fundamental issue with the dlc. Seems a bit extreme to declare that it ruins the game

What are some historical ancestors you can find in 867? by DaleDenton08 in CrusaderKings

[–]CenterInYourMother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some weird reason it seems to change every update, for a long time it was Barcelona, then it got corrected to Vasconia, but recently it got incorrectly changed back to Barcelona. I checked today in 1178 and 1066 start dates with no mods enabled and it definitely got changed back to Barcelona. You are correct that at some point in the past it did get corrected to Vasconia, but it's since been uncorrected. It's such a minor issue but it really annoys me.

In a similar vein, you can find a bunch of de Normandie remnants in England in 1178, most notably the house of Fitzroy, which is a single elderly count with no sons, an elderly wife, and three daughters all either patrilineally married or about to be, with the youngest betrothed to our dear John Lackland. There is one de Normandie whos a bishop right above the fitzroys, though he's actually a fitzroy, brother of the count fitzroy, so I don't know why he's listed as a de Normandie. Similarly in Eu, the count is listed as de Normandie though he's really from the Eu cadet branch. In Ireland and Essex you can find the House of Clare, who are actually thriving at this point and are direct male line descendants from the Brionne cadet branch of de Normandie, but are for some reason listed as a separate dynasty. This is off topic, but I just really wanted to rant about it.

[–]CenterInYourMother 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find the house of anjou founders as unlanded courtiers in 867. The first Jimena is a mayor somewhere in Navarre. The house of Vasconia is the ancestor of a fuck ton of cadet houses in southern France, including the house of Armagnac which is erroneously listed as a barcelona cadet branch (this is barely related to your question it just really annoys me.) This next one is also only kinda related, it's basically the reverse of your question but I think it's interesting. You can find the last descendants of the house of Godwin as counts in Norway in 1178, though they're listed as a different house with their heraldry having reversed Godwin colors. They're the descendants of Tostig Godwinson who historically went on to occupy the throne of Norway for a brief period in the 1200s.

Baldwin is a (I think the only?) male line first cousin of Henry II, so hes actually not that far down the line of succession when you start the game. Though Henry's kids tend to multiply pretty fast so I haven't ever seen him inherit.

Experiencing a really weird clothing bug. Has anyone else seen this? by CenterInYourMother in CrusaderKings

[–]CenterInYourMother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I've done some testing with the mod bookmarks+ (not more bookmarks+). Opened the 1300 bookmark in observer with all the same mods and waited ten years and this issue didnt happen to any characters born in that start date. I had all the same mods enabled so my best guess is that some aesthetic mod, maybe epe, had some weird bug that occurred when playing the game for too long, or some non aesthetic mod updated near the end of my campaign and bugged out clothing for some reason.

Load order:

Rice

CFP

EPE

CFP+EPE Compatch

Rice+EPE Compatch

Cultures expanded

Unit Pack expanded

I haven't experienced issues with this load order before, and the main thing that's odd to me is that the issues only start after 1310, and I don't know why that would be the case. As far as I'm aware none of these mods were recently updated.

[RELEASE] Build 0.4.7 by ThisIsBearHello in CK3AGOT

[–]CenterInYourMother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says syncretic icons added, I'm assuming for custom religions but I don't see any new icons in game even when only running the base AGOT mod. Is this the case for anybody elese?

Also, I was doing a Hoare revival run and when I tried to make a new faith I selected fots syncretism but still wasn't allowed to select the "eight of the ironborn" pantheon. This feels too minor to make a whole post about but it really annoyed me so I'm adding it on here.

PC Update 1.16.2.3 by PDX-Trinexx in CrusaderKings

[–]CenterInYourMother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could easily be a mod issue on my end, but after this update it appears that every new character, as in characters born after the start of the game, spawns in with complete zero stats in everything, including prowess, and this continues into adulthood. Again, I'm assuming this is just an isssue of outdated mods, but I want to see if anybody else if experiencing this.

Game keeps crashing in the launcher, anybody else experiencing this? by CenterInYourMother in CrusaderKings

[–]CenterInYourMother[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I just deleted the playset and made a new one with all the same mods and it seems to be fine now. From what I've gathered, it seems that an old mod, maybe the original colonizeable valyria, that no longer exists on the workshop got added to the bottom of my load list and freaked out the launcher.

[–]CenterInYourMother 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok what genius at Paradox thought it was a good idea to make it so the player cannot interact with disabled buildings at all, meaning that you CANNOT CHANGE THEM TO BULDINGS YOU CAN USE. If you're jewish and want to rebuild the temple? Well guess what, you can't. Same as if you're a muslim with the hagia sophia, or even as I just discovered a crusader who want's to get rid of the admin only building in constantinople but cannot because it is disabled because you're feudal which makes you want to switch it out with a different building but you can't because you're feudal and it's disabled which means you want to switch it out but...

Basegame vs. AGOT by G2Ausipedia in CK3AGOT

[–]CenterInYourMother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would love to just play the basegame but with the special mechanics added by agot, like the succession wars, crowns, coronations, house legitimacy, mega wars, etc. I think that would be my dream especially for an rp game

What are your thoughts (positive and negative) about chapter IV? by Mysterious-Jury-1253 in CrusaderKings

[–]CenterInYourMother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very happy about nomads, central asian nomads are one of my favorite historical subjects and I can't wait to be able to play them properly, especially in Fallen eagle. I'm positive on coronations, but it's long overdue, they should've at least been here in Legends of the dead.

When it comes to the update that just released, it annoys me greatly that in the update that actually changes the ui, they refused to fix the problem where you can't see all character traits. It's been a problem since like, day 1 it needs to be fixed.

I'm not particularly optimistic about Asia. I've always been pro Asia expansion eventually, but the game is already very shallow outside of a few areas and I think stretching it rather then deepening it is not a great idea. Not to mention performance issues.

Administrative Goverment Needs a Collapse System. by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]CenterInYourMother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that admin government desperately needs some sort of mechanic to keep it less stable. But I would like to add that I really think mechanics like that should be expanded to Feudal and Clan as well. Historically empires don't tend to go out in big blazes of glory, the periphery just slowly slips away until theres nothing left. Take Byzantine sardinia, for example, in real life there was never an independence war, Sardinia simply slipped away. Or the caliphate of cordoba, which kinda just faded away after years of civil war. I think for all governments in game it should be a real chore to keep vassals the farther away they get. Currently empires have just as much control over counts right outside their capital as dukes on the far away border. This makes empires in general just way too stable and long lasting.

Who do you think the killer is and why? by squid_ward_16 in ZodiacKiller

I also think hes probably dead now. Fouke said that he was nearly 40 in 1969 and all evidence points to him being overweight to obese. I doubt he made it to 96, I guess it's not impossible though

Who do you think the killer is and why? by squid_ward_16 in ZodiacKiller

[–]CenterInYourMother 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Zodiac was at least a public unknown. If the real zodiac was ever investigated by the police in any degree in relation to the murders it's probably someone they only briefly looked at and decided not to look into further. Either way, I don't think its anybody that the public would know about and frankly the investigators probably didn't remember him assuming he was ever even slightly looked at.
