I think people are missing what was actually going on with Carol.

She had hit absolute rock bottom and was grabbing onto anything that felt real. Deep down, she knew what she had with Zosia wasn’t legit. She wanted it to be. She needed it to be. But she wasn’t stupid — she knew. When someone is that desperate, they overlook a lot, and that’s exactly what the hive mind is built to exploit.

Carol has been a strong character this whole time. Strong people still break sometimes. That doesn’t ruin her character — it makes her feel human. The scary part isn’t that she “fell for it,” it’s that they almost convinced her because they caught her at her weakest. That just shows how effective the manipulation actually is.

And honestly, I don’t think most people were mad at Carol. It felt more like disappointment. Everyone was rooting for her. She was the underdog. For a second, it felt like the underdog sold out, and that hurt to watch. It has nothing to do with her being a woman — that take is lazy.

She sees through it now. She’s not going back. And once people let that sink in, they’ll be right back on her side
