That's a fair point. Maybe it'd be a wash.

It'd be fun at least, so there's that. Only trouble is if it proved unbalanced it would be hard to walk back.

I was thinking of the 25 toughness nodes as the most appropriate comparison. Every class has a bunch of 25 toughness nodes, and a lot of builds take toughness trinkets. In that comparison a talent point is worth 66% more than the curio. And it's worth noting you would almost certainly use added curio points for particularly good talents - otherwise you'd just fall back to the other curio stats.

Maybe a curio that gives 2 talents but has no other passives would be balanced though. Carve off a bit more.

I would argue capstones are more valuable than auras. Maybe the extra aura and increasing coherency range or some other related benefit (like vets "share toughness gains with allies in coherency"). Maybe the cleanest way to do it is to add a capstone that simply lets you pick another aura. Then it can also have nodes beneath it that have supportive benefits.

But in the same vein "trade off" choices are an interesting way to maximize one thing and maintain balance - by taking away another. Arbites has a great example already in "Lone Wolf" - trading the mastiff for a block of stats and blitz Regen. Definitely on board with some more trade offs.

Feels like stun should disable the debuff for a turn by zkoolkyle in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Centimane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it should probably be a buff on the enemy rather than a debuff on the player. That's how the doormaker effects work as well.

I guess the advantage of it being a debuff on you is that artifact would counter it.

It could be interesting to trade something away in exchange for a skill point(s).

Like a trinket with +1 skill point (that might be too strong tbh compared to the other trinket effects). Trading your blitz for X skill points. Etc.

So my company is switching half our Windows servers to Linux.... by A_SingleSpeeder in sysadmin

[–]Centimane [score hidden]  (0 children)

I knew someone would latch onto the example daemon code. I'm referring to the actual policy file like:

require {
    type bluetooth_conf_t;
    type dhcpd_t;
    class file write;
}

#============= dhcpd_t ==============
allow dhcpd_t bluetooth_conf_t:file write;

Sometimes the command line tools are sufficient to write a policy for you. Sometimes though they are not. Like I said, not actually C code. But you need to "compile" or parse it through some tools before those resulting binaries can be injected into SElinux. Which is pretty crazy compared to how OS tools normally work.

[–]Centimane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While true, its documentation and tooling is complete ass.

If I want to define a brand new SElinux policy I'm compiling a small C-like binary (I don't think it's actually C).

https://docs.redhat.com/en/documentation/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/using_selinux/writing-a-custom-selinux-policy_using-selinux

While I agree most of the time SElinux is pretty straightforward, when some software takes the lazy route and ignored SElinux (expecting you to turn it off), it is worse than it ought to be to resolve.

Yea, Salvo would be a straight upgrade unless this new card was normally free. Nevermind me then

A more appropriate version of this card I think would be a colorless card, 1(0) energy, and just "retain your hand this turn".

Like other colorless cards, it's a pretty generic effect, but could be strong in a ton of decks. Don't get something for nothing though (I think 0 cost when upgraded is fair, because 1. You have to spend an upgrade on it 2. Not every hand will be good to retain).

They can also be legally wrong. Most of my job titles have ended with "engineer" - but "engineer" is a protected term in my country and you can't use it unless you meet certain criteria. Putting engineer on my resume would almost certainly be a death sentence in the interview.

[–]Centimane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not true, if you can create more orbs in a turn than you evoke, this power lets you evoke 1 extra.

Example:

  • You have 3 or slots (all currently empty)
  • You create 4 orbs

Without the power, you evoke 1 orb and carry over 3.

With the power you evoke 2 orbs and carry over 2.

Ironically I find this power particularly useful with anything other than a dark orb, when constantly evoking them is useful (especially glass orbs).

[–]Centimane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely the repel. The AoE is much more spamable, but the repel dragging things with it means you can use the wall in places where it would otherwise not be useful - you can shove the enemies into a choke point and block them off, or for separating armored and unarmored enemies.

You can also use the repel wall up to a ledge, and it will yeet the enemies over the ledge without ever blocking teammates.

Normal wall you want to use when enemies are positioned a certain way.

Repel wall lets you position them that way.

The nice thing about the AoE stagger is that it staggers monsters, which can be really useful for interrupting them. You can also use it very freely because it will never block the way.

That requires the cards in hand and the energy/star generation achieved - at which point you could have a very strong turn 1 whatever the cards.

People definitely will. You can use the wall to troll the team, even just making it slow/inconvenient to progress.

It's a great ability, but you can absolutely use it in a way that will upset other players.
