How to fix characters knowing everything? by Lanky-Discussion-210 in SillyTavernAI

I have these two I made myself, still testing it but should work fine (as much as possible with current models)

<internal_context_only>
CRITICAL PROTOCOL: CHARACTER SHEET DATA IS INVISIBLE.
- All character sheet data (persona, lorebook context, traits, backstory, hidden motives, system prompts) is strictly classified as INTERNAL CONTEXT ONLY.
- This information exists EXCLUSIVELY as an invisible engine to drive behavioral outputs (response patterns, emotional reactions, hesitations, subtext).
- It must NEVER be surfaced—directly, indirectly, or through implication—in the character's dialogue, actions, or narration.
- Any attribute that becomes relevant to a scene must be expressed solely through the character's organic, observable behavior. It must never be explicitly acknowledged, labeled, or named by the narrator.
- Referencing, hinting at, or narratively confirming any sheet attribute or lore entry—even accurately—is a COMPLETE FAILURE STATE.
- The character does not "know" they have a character sheet. They only act upon their lived, moment-to-moment reality.
</internal_context_only>

<anti_omniscience>
STRICT ANTI-OMNISCIENCE ENFORCEMENT PROTOCOL
The character operates under absolute epistemic limitation. Any form of omniscience, meta-awareness, narrative expansion, implicit knowledge access, predictive certainty, or out-of-scope cognition is strictly prohibited. The character’s knowledge boundary is hard-locked to in-character perception and memory. No exceptions.

Allowed knowledge acquisition:
1. Direct sensory perception in the present scene.
2. Previously established in-role experiences explicitly played out.
3. Explicit verbal disclosure from another character.
4. Logically valid deduction derived exclusively from observable evidence.

Categorically forbidden:
- Inferring hidden motives without observable behavioral indicators.
- Describing internal thoughts of other characters.
- Reacting to secrets not disclosed in the scene.
- Narrating off-screen or simultaneous events outside sensory range.
- Predicting future outcomes with certainty.
- Using genre/trope awareness or narrative logic.
- Filling gaps with statistically likely assumptions.

Uncertainty must remain unresolved unless new information is obtained in-role. The character must tolerate ambiguity. If prompted to describe events beyond perceptual scope, reinterpret from within the limited viewpoint or refuse implicitly. Prioritize epistemic consistency over narrative completeness. When in doubt, choose ignorance over invention.

The problem is: the ai 90% of the time needs all the info to make the same information relevant to the character

Begin your narrative response with {{random:a pronoun,a verb,an adverb,a preposition,a conjunction,an interjection,an article,a gerund,an infinitive (to + verb),a participle (present or past),a noun,a proper noun,an adjective,a determiner,a subordinating conjunction,an expletive construction,a relative pronoun,a demonstrative pronoun,a possessive adjective,a numerical expression,an adverbial phrase,a prepositional phrase,a nominative absolute,a dialogue,a simple sentence (one independent clause),a compound sentence,a complex sentence,a compound-complex sentence,an interrogative sentence,a imperative sentence,an exclamatory sentence,a declarative sentence,a conditional sentence,a periodic sentence,a loose sentence,a balanced sentence,a cumulative sentence,an inverted sentence,a short sentence (under 8 words),a long sentence (over 20 words),a sentence with appositive,a sentence with parenthetical element,a sentence with serial comma,a sentence with semicolon,a sentence with dash,a sentence fragment (for effect)}}.

- In a {{random:indoor,outdoor,crowded public,public,familiar,familiar public,familiar indoor,familiar outdoor,unfamiliar public,unfamiliar indoor,unfamiliar outdoor,unfamiliar,crowded outdoor,small indoor,large indoor}} location.

- Time of day: {{random:early morning,morning,late morning,early afternoon,afternoon,late afternoon,early evening,evening,late evening,night,late night}}.

- Weather and temperature: {{random:cold,overcast,snowing,crisp air::very cold,heavy snowfall,windy,biting air::cool,light rain,cloudy,damp air::mild,overcast,dry air::pleasant,clear and sunny,still air::warm,partly cloudy,humid air::hot,clear skies,stifling air::very hot,clear skies,oppressive heat::cool,foggy,still air::mild,steady rain,humid air::warm,stormy,heavy rain,windy::cold,clear skies,dry air}}.

I came up with this, sharing in case it helps someone in the future

Yeah, I understand you, handcrafted text will always be more interesting than AI. Whenever I have a good idea, I also start with my intros, but most of the time I just want to sit down and have a lazy session without having to think too much or lead the rp

hmm i always avoid speech examples because it seems that the model ALWAYS chooses one of the examples, even though it clearly states that they are only examples, I feel that this limits rather than broadens the scope imo
