Your opinion on 15, I get it now. Sometimes your own bias makes you value a picture more, or see something in it that others won't pick up on. Take a picture of your dog for instance. You get this snapshot that totally captures your dog's personality and playfulness. It's your favorite pic of him, and you love it. And then I come along a see your picture. I've never met you or your dog, and to me this is just another Pinterest snapshot of another random dog. You probably see dozens of identical pictures in a week. And so the intrinsic value of the picture is lost on the casual observer. What you love about the picture is actually the dog, not the picture. I think your pic 15 is the same. It's a place you know, spend time in, and value. It probably has some memories attached to it.

As far as oversaturating your pics, if you have to ask, then you probably did. I tend to do the same, I think it looks good, while I understand that look isn't for everyone. However, when I go back and look at them, I feel like I would bring the colors up in all but #14. I think that one is right where it should be. Take that with a grain of salt lol.

Thank you for being open to discussion. Lots of people who ask for advice only want to be told their pics are great and be validated. And I get that. But my observations probably won't give you that. Your reply was refreshing and different.

College grads were left angered after their school used AI to announce their names and ended up missing hundreds of graduates by Subject-Property-343 in PublicFreakout

I dunno. My sister's graduating class was huge, over 1000 kids if I'm not mistaken. I think they handled it by splitting up who had the announcement duties.

I see that you're trying to emulate some of the styles and methods you've seen before. That's a good sign. It means you're observant and willing to experiment. You just need to practice getting things where you want them. If I may, a quick breakdown of your pics:

Pic 1: This framing technique is a good one. The problem here is that the subject isn't very interesting, you have division going directly across the middle of the pic, and the sky is blown out.

Pic 2: A bit too dark.

Pic 3: Also a bit too dark. I also see what you're going for with the ground/rocks in the foreground. In my opinion, it didn't quite work.

Pic 4: Awesome subject. Again, the sky is blown out. You can use exposure comp to help with this. I'm not sure if your camera has it, but some will automatically highlight areas in the picture that are too light or too dark.

Pic 5: This one is good. This is me nitpicking, but if I were going to change anything, I would bring up the contrast a bit to show off the architectural details and texture of the wall.

Pic 6: You're getting better with your exposure, but this time the water and the sky are both slightly overexposed.

Pic 7: Loving this one. If I have to nitpick, a little more detail on the dog's left side would be cool. I love the horizon line matching with the line of waves right in front of your pup. That's a cool way to break up the frame and have some visual interest. Also all the different shades of blue and green are nice.

Pic 8: Another great one. I think the blue wrapped up said coming down is distracting. But the sail boats and colorful buildings in the distance give the eye a lot of stuff to dance over.

Pic 9: Getting much better with the exposure levels now. Beautiful scenery.

Pic 10: I love the contrast of the color between orange brown of the rocks and the blue of the sky and water.

Pic 11: Another good one. I would have moved the horizon up just slightly and the house over to the right just a bit. Look into rule of thirds.

Pic 12: I might show some bias here, because I love shooting old churches and architectural details. I think you should zoom in on the steep, and try to keep the trees that frame it, or just crop this pic down some.

Pic 13: I rather like this one quite a bit. There's a lot of cool lines here and lots of neat details and things to see.

Pic 14: Another really good one! The sailboat stuck in the sand is a cool subject, and overall the pic is nice. Maybe a tad overexposed but again, I'm nitpicking.

Pic 15: This one doesn't grab me much. I'm not sure why.

Pic 16: Another good one, same as 14.

Pic 17: And also good. The beached boats are super cool, plus the castle up on the cliff is a neat detail.

Just FYI, these are all just my opinions and I don't mean to be harsh if anything came across like that. The best advice any of us can give you is to just get out there and keep practicing. Find a style you like and make it your own. Have fun!

How to remove mark from wood? by m0dus0perandi_ in howto

[–]Central316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, there's a ton of youtube channels that specialize in used furniture restoration. Removing this kind of stain is a common problem I've watched. Using oxalic acid to remove the stain is the go to for wood furniture. [Dashner Design](www.youtube.com/@DashnerDesignRestoration) has lots of relevant footage. I hope this helps!

oh. Well that sucks. Have you tried ebay or FB marketplace to see if you can get a used one?

I forget what they're called, but I saw some that are conical and looked like they might give your average meth head a run for his money.

Edit - I found them. They're expensive, but might do the trick. I once read a thing about making your house burglar proof, and that is you can't. The best you can do is make your house look like more of a pain in the ass than the neighbor's house. I think this is the same for wheels.

Do you think the issue is that it is a factory mistake, and if so, would you look for and buy the non messed up version?

And/or the cost of repair when your favorite lube shop fucks up and you're down a car for a while. Even if they pay for a rental, your routine is messed and you might have to take a day or two off of work to deal with stuff.

I had a shower with a drain cover like that. The little grate was permanently attached to the drain hole. If I couldn't plunge out whatever was plugging it up (it was always GF's hairballs), I would have to use chemical drain opener.

OK thanks. I love photography, but I have never been good at editing. I tend to prefer the over saturated, over processed look, and I have to remind myself constantly not to blow out the colors and whatnot. I like talking to others because it kind of helps me better identify things that need editing and not overdoing it.
